Supporting Your Child's Natural Gift
Three years back, my son, who was just 11 then, asked if he could use my old phone that I have stopped using. This phone had stopped working some time ago, so I gave it to him to play with. He was very happy when I gave him the lifeless phone that Saturday morning before I left for work. When I came back home that night, my son ran to say hello with joy in his eyes. Right away, he showed me the old Nokia phone, saying, “Dad,” with tears in his eyes, “Look, it works now.” He had made the dead phone work again.
I thanked him right then for the great job. I told him this would surely make me get him his own phone. He said he was happy with just the old Nokia. From then on, he began to work on other dead tech pieces around our home to see if he could fix them. He got an old radio, my old VCD player, and a headphone working again, just to list a few. It was clear he had a gift with broken tech. All I could do was watch, amazed.
As a young boy, I saw he had a dream he wanted to reach. My job as his dad was to get him ready by showing him basic tech parts. He was still young, so I got him simple tools like screwdrivers, a soldering iron, and lead. He learned a lot about batteries, IC, and phone wires. What amazed me most was his skill in fixing nearly any old or broken phone in our home. He even got smart with complex fixes like soldering copper wires.
Seeing his work, I felt I had to put him in a local tech repair shop where he could learn more about fixing phones and computers. He started training after school each day and in six months, he learned nearly all he needed to fix tech gear. I was stunned by how fast he learned and did these things. Now at 14, still in middle secondary school, he made a power bank from old phone batteries which we all used to charge phones in the house for some period of time.
When I bought my laptop, he helped set up Windows OS on it and made sure it worked well with my wireless router. He showed me basic computer tips and helped me when I had trouble with it. I now wonder if he'll run a tech business someday, sharing my own love for tech.
I had grown up wanting to be an engineer and work with computers, but I never saw the same in my son. I only hope that he is going into the path of his purpose. If he can earn money from pursuing his passion, he will be set for life. He's fixing devices for our neighbors and close friends and earning himself some cash.
As a father, it is my duty to give him everything he needs to be successful. His joy in fixing phones and computers is growing, and others find the idea appealing. I will encourage him and hope he will be able to fend for himself in the future, working hard throughout his entire life.
As he started to fix devices, the younger brothers and sisters began to understand technology too. They do what they can to help him. His education has excited them; he is teaching them how to fix phones and computers. He has also built a good rapport with them and taught them how to use their time wisely.
Parents should learn to challenge their children to dream their dreams. They will succeed if only we believe in them.
Let's help our kids figure out what they are to do and make them realize their dreams. It will make them happy and the entire family happy too.

Is this an exact replica of the post yesterday? I see the same funny formatting a close to the taglist and it's also the same articles in the staked highlight 🤔

I agree! I was wondering too while I flew over this post. 😆
Yeah not sure what happened that was not what I submitted 🤣
I don't know what you guys are talking about. Fake news. The post is fine. Keep it moving 🤣

I don't even know how that happened I had the post ready to go , no biggie as soon as you guys let me know I saw and I just had to update the post copy paste from a peakd draft luckily we use that for the drafts so I didn't have to make the post from scratch
Pretty weird.
Maybe it hadn't registered the change. Sometimes threads do that too, especially from mobile, if you have an emoji at the end.
I make a linebreak after to make sure it's shown in the preview, or it will be gone 😂
Lol on inLeo you learn to adapt

The powerbank creation is impressive, even more so if it was created out of old batteries (I mean batteries that had a poor battery life when it was in a phone).
I totally agree that we need to help our children reach their potential in whatever field they decide to roam, but... duty to give them everything they need to be successful - I do not agree there.
That will make them accustomed to being handed everything and not work to get what they need for something.
