Scary forest tales, or Xylaria polymorpha - Dead man's fingers
In the old days all the scary stories revolved around a scary forest where all sorts of scary creatures lived.
The creaking and shadows of the trees struck terror into people's hearts.
You can imagine what people experienced when they saw the terrible black fingers of a dead man appearing from under the ground which in fact were nothing more than a mushroom called Xylaria polymorpha.
By the way a very valuable and useful mushroom that I found in the old park area of the Moldovan capital.
