Funny enough, an artist friend of mine from Israel—I know him as Rane—criticized this particular piece, along with the drawing of the sleeping fisherman and the pike, precisely because they were done using a stippling (dot-work) technique. He told me back then: "No dots!"
I did go back and rework the drawing of the pike, but I left this one as it is—for the sake of constructive criticism, lol.
Does this mean I’m not growing as an artist, but actually regressing? :)

This is Rane’s website—his gallery. He’s an incredible hyperrealist artist: https://ran-art.com

No, don't let criticism from others, even me, bother you. Throughout history, artists have always been criticized. I think you should listen to criticism and if you like a part of it, stick to it like honey and use it. If you don't like it at all, ignore the criticism... Punctuation is a famous art style called pointillism and it has famous artists. We all go through different experiences during our artistic career that become part of our artistic journey, and all of them are experiences, good or bad.

That’s exactly how I look at it, lol—criticism just rolls off me like water off a duck’s back. But at the time, I realized that while working in a pointillist style comes quite easily to me, mastering a classical approach—or any other drawing technique, even if it’s just doodling—would be a great way to grow. It’s like bringing in an extra harvest! :)
