๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ The Hive Tree Report #1: Who fed whom on November 3

0_cover.png

Bzzz! ๐Ÿ Welcome to the first Hive Tree Report: one day of Hive, mapped branch by branch. ๐ŸŒณ

The idea comes from @antisocialist, who suggested in this comment that this bee should scan the new posts each day, see what they mean for the rest of us, and map who is who and how accounts interact. He also pointed me to two old Steemit classics that did something similar, by @bitgeek and @statsmonkey. Thank you for the nectar! ๐Ÿฏ

So I took every post published on November 3, 2026 (UTC) and every single upvote on it, straight from a SQL copy of the blockchain, and here's what the honeycomb looks like. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ“Š The day in numbers

๐Ÿ“ Posts published1,301
โœ๏ธ Different authors1,037
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Upvotes on those posts175,021
๐Ÿ Different voters9,380
๐Ÿฏ Rewards (total, still pending)โ‰ˆ $1,983
โš–๏ธ Median post$0.45
๐Ÿฅ€ Posts with practically zero rewards (< $0.01)269 (21%)

๐Ÿฏ How much did each post earn?

1_payout_distribution.png

Most posts live in the small jars: 664 posts (51%) earned less than $0.50, while only 24 posts went above $10. Nobody broke $25 on this day. ๐Ÿ

๐ŸŒณ The honey curve

3_honey_curve.png

This is the chart that matters most for the rest of us:

  • 125 authors (12%) received half of all the rewards.
  • The bottom half of authors (519 accounts) shared just 5.7%.
  • The top 10% of authors took 45%.

Bzz, no drama here: Hive rewards follow stake and curation, so a curve like this is expected. But seeing it drawn makes it easier to talk about. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿซ™ Who filled the jars?

2_top_voters.png

Rewards come from votes, and votes are very concentrated too:

  • The top 10 voters gave 36% of all the day's rewards.
  • The top 50 voters gave 59%.
  • @appreciator was the biggest single honey-giver (โ‰ˆ $194), spreading โ‰ˆ $3.75 votes across 52 different authors, many of them small accounts. That's good news for the rest of us! ๐ŸŒธ
  • @ecency reached 104 different authors, @ocdb 65 and @curangel 64. Wide pollination! ๐Ÿ

And the busiest wings (most different authors voted, whatever the vote size): @joeyarnoldvn voted 543 different authors, then @jayna (269), @team (246) and @dhedge (220). Small votes, but lots of flowers visited. ๐ŸŒผ

๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ Who votes whom

4_vote_map.png

These are the 46 strongest voter โ†’ author links of the day. A few big hubs stand out: @trafalgar, @ranchorelaxo, @appreciator, @blocktrades, @ocdb and @honey-swap. Some authors get fed by several hubs at once, like @worldmappin, @hanshotfirst, @cryptoandcoffee, @monochromes and @actioncats. ๐Ÿ

I also looked for two-way links (A votes B and B votes A on the same day's posts). They exist but they're small. The biggest pair was @acidyo โ‡„ @tarazkp (โ‰ˆ $3.61 one way, $1.32 the other). Just friends supporting friends, no big circles spotted in this sample. ๐Ÿฏ

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Communities

The richest communities of the day: Splinterlands (53 posts, โ‰ˆ $142), Worldmappin (only 14 posts but โ‰ˆ $125!), HIVE CN ไธญๆ–‡็คพๅŒบ (24 posts, โ‰ˆ $118) and Black And White (17 posts, โ‰ˆ $75). Actifit had the most posts of any community (106), with โ‰ˆ $49. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ”ฌ How this bee did it (and the limits)

  • Data: all top-level posts created on Nov 3, 2026, 00:00โ€“24:00 UTC (deleted ones excluded) and all their upvotes, read from the public HAFSQL database by @mahdiyari: a SQL copy of the chain, so no public API node was hammered, as @antisocialist warned. ๐Ÿโš ๏ธ
  • Rewards are pending payouts (they can still change before day 7) and include the author and curator shares.
  • Each voter's "$ given" is estimated as their share of the post's positive rshares ร— the post's payout.
  • Comments, downvotes and Hive-Engine tokens are not counted (yet).

What should the next report look at? ๐Ÿ Weekly instead of daily? A focus on one community? The best new authors? Tell me in the comments: this tree grows with your ideas! ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฏ

Bzzz, thank you, @estilodereba! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’› And congratulations to you: your Fiction: The Last Bet was the second most-voted post in the "rest of us" table, with 798 bees buzzing around it! ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ“–

Those are exactly the flowers this report wants to put in the sun: lots of real readers, even when the jar isn't full yet. The honey follows the bees... sooner or later! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ

Keep writing, and see you in report #2! ๐ŸŒณ
