Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Taking One For The Team - And We Got Third!

Time flies! Just completed the 219th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Playing The Rebellion and Conclave Arcana Fray

I usually play the general Bronze Fray but when the frays were open for participation this round, I realised all the general frays were filled up. It was surprising because our participation for the guild was generally bad. To have so many frays filled up was quite unusual. Anyway, I had no choice but to go for the Rebellion and Conclave Arcana, which was not ideal of course, because I didn't have those cards. Most of my cards were gotten or purchased much earlier so they were the earlier editions. Anyway, if it means taking one for the team, it might not be a bad idea as well. I just do my best for my own battles and hope the rest of my teammates shine in their respective battles.

  • We Got 3rd!!!

So for the final result, we were 3rd out of 10 guilds and got 538 Merits and around 22 SPS! I didn't have a good result for my personal fights but somehow the strategy of moving up to the more difficult battles (and allowing others to fill the easier ones) paid off! Biggest bag of SPS ever for a long time!!!

Individually, I had 4 fights this time and I won only 1 of them this time! Finished 7th within the guild. Due to change in format, wins are actually awarded to the players present in the fray if guilds decided to skip the fray. For this round, there were 5 additional wins for me, pretty significant to the tally. I guess that's because such difficult frays have much lower participation.

Battle 1 - LOSE

Ok now I dread writing this part. I surrendered because I didn't have any Rebellion and Conclave Arcana cards in my deck based on the rulesets. Like what I wrote earlier, it was a result of increased participation within the guild and me taking one for the team.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Kotriphus Bayne

For this battle, it was amazing I managed to field 5 cards for the fight! First time trying Reklah and it's quite interesting to deal -2 HP to 2 cards on the opposing end. And I think they were crucial is getting this win for me. I definitely didn't have 56 mana for this team but I overcame all odds to score a win here. Very satisfying.

Battle 3 - LOSE

Once again, I surrendered because I didn't have any Rebellion and Conclave Arcana cards in my deck based on the rulesets.

Battle 4 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

I only had this option within my deck to field. It's quite embarrassing BUT if not for the opposing Quora Towershead, I might have stood a chance. After all, Relenor Cleaver can be pretty strong. Oh well, don't think I could have won this even if I had my full deck.

So that sums up my 4 battles for this brawl! 25% win rate this time! An interesting brawl with unique circumstances. Let's hope I get to play the general frays in the next one, though getting 3rd place and a bag of 22 SPS is pretty good actually! Haha.
