Sunday morning - Injury report

Sometimes you need to take a step back to move forward, right? Well today I needed to re-adjust my plans as I could no longer ignore the irritation I had for last 3 weeks on my left foot. Rather than pushing through for my planned 30km run (and risking a big injury) I decided to head back home and will try to just go for a walk instead.
My run:
I planned to run a big round to different parks in Rotterdam in a decent pace. Basicly right from the start I felt my feet troubling me again. Whereas I earlier assest this as a small irritation I ranked the pain 6/10 today - which means not something to ignore.

The issue:
Pain in the yellow-circled area.

I'll have to check over the next few days whether it's a small fracture in the metatarsal bone or tendon damage.
The reason I missed it with my injury run was because it started before my 50k run.
I had assumed that it was simply the result of having tied my normal shoes too tightly. In the beginning, it felt that way, so I had tied my laces differently to avoid putting strain on it.

During todays run, I noticed not landing on and pushing off correctly - so I decided to make an adjustment. On inspection lifting my big toe causes pain 8/10.
So ill take care of this 🙏👍
My walk:
Won’t stand still :) just changed clothes and decided to just go for a relaxing walk - listening to music and enjoying nature. With the easing lacing there is no pain so it feels good to get a little movement (8km) in this way.

Take care buddy it is important to rest our bones as well as everything else.

When I started running longer, I had to buy bigger shoes. They reckon your feet swell more the longer and hotter it gets. I mainly had toenail problems. Nowadays I still wear my shoes big and loose even though I do not go that far anymore.
Same! I am known with some foot issues with higher humidity, mostly blisters under my toes and side of my feet and losing toenails. So my shoes were wider and bigger to prevent that, also I use the lacing technique to prevent any issues (heel lock + skipping a line on the insole of the feet). My guess is that I made an error when I took a few days off with the family to use my trail shoes for hiking and mud walks. The solomon lacing is pretty tight - I expect that to cause an irritation which I misjudged and now will have to deal with. Will be alright mate 🙏 !ALIVE
Offt! 8 out of 10, pain is no joke. I'm glad that it didn't hurt while you were walking. Meanwhile, those Cygnets are gorgeous!
Thank you! Yeah, walking was both fun aswell as a bit re-assuring that I could do that around 2 / 10. Week of rest / active recovery should do wonders now!
Sounds like it could be a stress related issue (stress for the bones that is). Possibly a tiny fracture. I hope it's nothing too serious!
Love the image with the headphones, though you usually look happier 😆

Yeah, should be alright! I tested it today with 8km walking and 10k of cycling after my initial run. I am leaning towards (/hoping for) small damage on the tendon from my big toe.
Some rest will work wonders I guess
