🎶Three Tune Tuesday Returns!!! Producer Spotlight With Flood (Mark Ellis) & Will Be (Part 1 of 2). Smashing Pumpkins! Nine Inch Nails! Depeche Mode! & Two Bonus Tunes! 💿

I’m back and I decided I’d keep up my focusing on a new producer every week! Let’s go with week 6 Producer Spotlight! This week with Flood (Mark Ellis) & 3 of his nineties Produced masterpieces! I have also been doing bonus content on the producers who had a lot of nineties records so there have been plenty to choose from, but I think to keep it to the best of the best, Three Tune Tuesday deserves all the Flood produced music. This will be part 1 of 2, next week I’ll cover three albums he produced in the 2000’s. Today I cover three albums from the nineties + a couple bonus tunes.

It’s hard to pick one song off each of these three albums and I considered doing 3 songs for each album but more is less is generally the rule for Three Tune Tuesday so I’ll stick to the standard format. That said it’s definitely worth checking out each album and listening cover to cover if you aren’t familiar! One song is hardly telling of how great these three albums are! The info will be next to each pick below!

Band - Depeche Mode
Song - Enjoy the Silence
Album - Violator (1990)

Band - Nine Inch Nails
Song - Hurt
Album - The Downward Spiral (1994)

Band - Smashing Pumpkins
Song - Tonight Tonight
Album - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness (1995)

For Bonus Tunes I picked the two artists who basicly worked with Flood on like 5 or more albums. U2 I personally don’t love this period but I felt not including it on a producer spotlight when U2 was probably its biggest success well I just felt I had to include it. Flood produced like 7 plus U2 albums from late eighties to well into 2014 era. Second Bonus Pick is more Indie scene artist PJ Harvey, who Flood Produced every nineties album from the artist. The main three picks are more my personal favorites but the two bonus picks definitely are part of Flood’s nineties era production story!

Band - PJ Harvey
Song - Down By The Water
Album - To Bring You My Love (1995)

Band - U2
Song - One
Album - Achtung Baby (1991)

Thanks to @ablaze for hosting #ThreeTuneTuesday & Thanks to all who dropped by this week! If you missed my previous Producer Spotlight posts here’s the last ones below ⬇️. I plan on doing 10-12 producers each week for Three Tune Tuesday & for a couple of them do part 2’s so I’ll likely keep this theme going until Christmas or so! Hope you are enjoying the journey! Cheers!
Week 1 - Butch Vig ⬇️
Week 2 - Rick Rubin ⬇️
Week 3 - Steve Albini ⬇️
Week 4 - Jerry Finn
Week 5 - Steve Kravac
Week 6 - Flood (Mark Ellis)
This post silly!
You just can't go wrong with such an amazing trio, @geneeverett!
Classic Bands! Rocks! 🙌🏻🎸
Awesome band selection for Three Tune Tuesday brother. Depeche Mode is one of those timeless bands that you still hear frequently in movies today. Boy did they change though, they started as an upbeat band until Vince Clark left and they became a much darker band. All good stuff though! U2 is another on of those timeless bands that just keep on being relevant being used in movies and on satellite radio all the time...
Smashing Pumpkins are awesome, great selection there too. PJ Harvey I wasn't all that familiar with, having spent most of those years in Spanish speaking countries. That's a good song, a little dark, but it was good and she knows how to move! Awesome TTT, very well done Gene!
Are you doing a Friday post this week?
I’m with you on 1990’s U2. I do like the first few albums a lot but the 1990’s era wasn’t as good for me. The 2000 & 2004 albums I don’t mind though.
It still amazes me how much the song Hurt is so linked to Johnny Cash version first by most. I like both versions but wow hurt became Johnnys swan song.
