Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

It's been a typical week in crypto the past week. We saw the prices of BTC drop down to 27k, and then go back up to 30k again before once again crashing down and now stabilizing somewhat around the 29k range. These wild fluctuations would give any investor in the traditional markets a heart attack, but in the crypto world, it is business as usual.

With HIVE and SPS being dragged along by the price of BTC, they haven't been spared the yo-yo-ing of prices either. All we can do is to take the long term view and hope that in the long run, it'll turn out well for us. At least, that's the hope that most of us who have conviction in cryptocurrency and HIVE have in general.

The worse case scenario? If all else fails, as long as we've got Splinterlands to play with, at least that counts for something eh? 🤣 That's what this is at it's very base — a fun enjoyable card game.

On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, this past week has seen a huge announcement! The release of a LEGENDARY promo card that is available for anyone to purchase, as long as you cough up the dough. Not only that, this is the first ever Dual Splinter monster in the game! That ought to be interesting. 😜

But before I go into detail...

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 75th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks another weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

I remember switching to Modern last week out of frustration with a string of losses on both my main and alt accounts. That was, on hindsight, probably not the wisest thing to do as it meant I wasted more than 2 days worth of rating points in which to accumulate my End of Season chests. However, at that point of time, I probably needed a change of scenery before I really flipped and did something more drastic.

Well, as expected, my End of Season chest numbers were hit pretty badly. My main account only managed a total of 44 Gold EOS chests, while my alt account only got 36. This is about 10+ chests lesser than usual for the both of them.

Rewards wise, I think it was pretty decent. My main eventually got 5 gold foil summoners, which is amazing. It isn't a splinter that I play often (Death) so that's something I might have to adjust my deck and work on. My alt account didn't get any gold foils, although it did get a decent amount of SPS too. No Chaos Legion packs were forthcoming for the whole of last season, so that's something pretty unfortunate. Overall, I'd say my rewards for the past season have been below average to poor. I hope my luck changes next season. 🍀💔

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

🏆💰🎁Splinterlands News🏆💰🎁

Introducing the first ever Dual Splinter Splinterlands card! Zyriel is a Legendary Life/Death Monster Promo card that will be made available for sale with no strings attached. Yup, that means unlike the other promo cards released before this (Arkemis and Vruz), there are ZERO requirements for anyone who wants to make this purchase. As long as you cough up the cash, you will be able to purchase this card while stocks last.

According to the Splinterlands team, "A total of 15,000 single-BCX Zyriel cards will be available for purchase in the Splinterlands shop starting on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at 4:00 PM ET / 20:00 UTC and the sale will run for 30 days or until the cards sell out, whichever comes first."

Each BCX of this card will cost 80k DEC/Credits with up to a 50% discount of that price available if a buyer burns up to 160 vouchers. With vouchers costing less than the discounted value, I think we can safely state that the price of each card is simply "40k DEC + 160 Vouchers".

Each card purchased has a 4% chance of being a Gold Foil with every 25 cards purchased in a single transaction guaranteeing at least 1 Gold Foil.

All I can say is that this card is REALLY expensive. It is more expensive than the most recent legendary promo, Doctor Blight. Will this be worth it? Lets look at it's stats...

This is a Life/Death dual splinter card, and is a Ranged unit. At max levels, she has Weapons Training, Life Leech, Holy Shield, and Rust. She hits like a truck with 5 damage, but is really slow with just 2 speed. Her hit points is also rather low at just 5HP. At 7 mana, I think we can consider her mana cost to be on the higher end too.

Do all these abilities make her worth about 50USD per card? I'm really not too sure. Personally, I doubt I'll be getting this card. Her use case is rather niche and at this price point, I could easily improve my deck significantly should I spend that amount of other cards instead.

However, being a card with such low circulation numbers, I'm pretty sure a large number of collectors will go ahead and purchase her anyway. One point to take note of is that she also probably makes a rather good card to "farm the land". With her dual element status, she is more flexible in being able to give bonuses to lands which are of the Life and Death elements. So that's something to consider.

Once again though, I feel that this is a luxury card. Be it for land or gameplay or collector purposes, this seems to be a card only the whales of the game will be going for. Perhaps if one likes to gamble, you could always buy 1 BCX in the hope of that 4% chance for it to turn GOLD. 🤑😜
