Recovery Run

After yesterday’s long run I was looking for an excuse to go outside and enjoy the weather again! As my wife was planning to go to the gym this evening and she pretty hesitant to drive when there is so much snow and ice, I found my excuse and offered to check how slippery the roads are!

I went for a relaxed recovery pace, keeping my heartbeat low and just enjoying the snow! It was quite a bit colder compared to yesterday the views were worth it!

My right hamstring was acting up a little over the last two weeks. Therefore I was very happy that while I did feel it at the start, it went completely to the background after roughly 2 km. This means that it is just an irritation and not a significant injury! My focus on zone 1 and 2 runs will continue to speed up the recovery so I feel confident to be fully ready well in time for the Coast Marathon next month!

While my wife will go to the gym this evening, tomorrow it will be difficult to drive in my area as there is very heavy weather expected next two days. This is unfortunate as I was planning to go for a beach run tomorrow and on Wednesday I had a hill session scheduled near Utrecht. But safety first, so I will find nice routes closer to my house!
Happy running!
Great job running in the snow! Glad to hear the hamstrings aren't injured, that could take some time to heal up properly. With some heavy storms moving in are you still going to be running during the heavy snow? That could be interesting!
The beach and hill run might best be left to those days without any inclement weather. Last thing you need to do is seriously injure yourself at either location far from home. That would make for one miserable day! lol
Haha yeah, I will run regardless of the weather - adjusting the speed should be sufficient to stay safe!
