Balance Does Not Have To Be Perfection - LOH #294

Balancing the responsibility of my family, career and myself isn't an easy task, it requires a deliberate approach to achieve. Usually, the last thought that I have every night before going to bed is the thought of how my day would be the following day. And I start the day with a list of all I have to do for the day, giving priority to the most important thing.

I'll share how I manage my responsibilities. Which could be referred to more or less, striking a balance. As a business class mom, I know I can't possibly achieve all I want to do in a day but some, to a very large extent. My typical day starts by 5 am, preparing breakfast and lunch( which is usually packed for everyone to take to their various places of engagement) and at weekends, I prepare multiple meals, some half way cooked, then store in the refrigerator, to ease my workload during the weekdays, while my older kids do the chores. I make sure my children are set for school before 7 am, after which I leave for the day's business.

I run my business between 8 am - 5 pm and do Hive and other on-line gigs in-between, because I need to get home on time to prepare dinner, and also assist my youngest kid with her homework before retiring to bed by 10 pm(sometimes 11 pm). Now, this is where it usually gets tough because most times i would have been exhausted and end up not finishing it or refer her to her siblings to complete. My personal reading time is usually done late nights after a few hours of sleep or early hours in the morning before starting the day. Whenever I need to visit the salon I usually don't add any or many activities because it takes much time, since it's not something I do on a daily basis.

Sundays after church service, I go home to relax, see a movie or two and rest. I also use it for visitation (though, occasionally), and call some family members and loved ones. No major work for me on Sundays, it's for me, myself and I so as to start the new working week refreshed and energized. Stress is real and deadly too, I have to be very intentional about rest.

Balancing family, work and personal responsibility isn't about one being perfect, but ensuring that none suffers at the expense of the other through conscious planning and giving intentional attention to each task with regards to priority.

Thanks for stopping by! 💚
