When Three Healers Guard a Single Fortress

Greetings splinterfam, loyal warriors in the Splinterlands arena.
Today I want to share a small story from my battle of the day that I found quite thought-provoking. The theme is simple: “three sturdy healers.” But as the elders in my village say, something that looks solid can sometimes collapse because of small, unnoticed cracks.

This battle took place in Survival mode, specifically in Bracket III Active. So you can imagine, the player I faced was no amateur. Their card collection was impressive, and their strategy looked well-prepared from the start.

My opponent used the archon Lyanna Natura from the Earth element. A classic choice that grants extra health to the entire team. But what really made me sigh a little was their monster formation.

On the front line stood Mycelic Slipspawn level 4 with the Taunt ability. That means all attacks had to be directed at it. It was like placing a giant shield right in the middle of the battlefield.

Behind it stood three diligent “doctors”:

  • Khmer Princess
  • Wood Nymph
  • Goblin Psychic

Just imagine it. Every time Slipspawn was attacked, these three healers immediately patched up its wounds like tire repairmen working overtime.

And that wasn’t all. There was also Mushroom Seer reducing my team’s magic power, as well as Creeping Ooze slowing my team’s speed.

In short: all attacks were funneled into one point, and that point kept getting repaired every time it was damaged.

Seeing a formation like that, I knew one thing: if I relied only on normal damage, this battle could last until the chickens came home to roost.

I used the archon Thaddius Brood to reduce the opponent’s magic attack. Then I placed Gargoya Lion with the Void ability at the front.

The result was rather amusing.
The enemy’s magic attacks, which should have been dangerous, instead felt like a light drizzle in the dry season. Not painful—just slightly wet.

But then another problem appeared: my team also struggled to break through Slipspawn. Every time its HP dropped, the three healers worked like emergency room staff on duty.

At that point I even thought, “This might turn into a marathon match.”

Fortunately, I brought two cards that became the turning point.

The first was Chaos Jailer. Its poison does not always trigger, but once it lands, the effect starts to build.

The second was Broken Earth Thug with the Cripple ability.

This is what slowly cracked that fortress.

Each time Broken Earth Thug attacked, Mycelic Slipspawn’s maximum HP decreased. So even though the three healers kept working, they could no longer restore Slipspawn’s HP to its former state.

Combined with the poison effect from Chaos Jailer, the Slipspawn that once stood like a mountain… eventually crumbled, little by little.

Once Slipspawn fell, the three healers behind it were like losing their umbrella in the rain. They no longer had a place to hide.

And from that moment, victory began to take shape.

Closing

What makes this battle interesting is one simple truth: even strong healing has limits.

Without Cripple, this match might have lasted a very long time. It could even have ended in fatigue, where the monster with the largest HP would be the one to survive.

But with Cripple, the game changed. Healing was no longer limitless.

For new players in the Splinterlands community, this is an important lesson. Sometimes we focus too much on big damage, when in fact small abilities like Cripple can be the key to victory.

In the end, I won the battle after the great fortress called Mycelic Slipspawn was finally breached.

My advice: when facing a team stacked with healers, don’t just hit harder. Find ways to wear them down slowly.

Because in Splinterlands, sometimes victory doesn’t come from the strongest blow…
but from small wounds that are left open long enough.
