The Philosophy of Comeback in Brave the Bull
![]()
Hello, Splinterlands warriors.
Over the past few days, I’ve found myself frequently opening the update page and reading news about the upcoming Conflict. It feels a bit like waiting for a new season in the arena—there’s curiosity, a touch of tension, and of course the hope for new cards that could reshape gameplay strategies. Amid those updates, one name immediately caught my attention: Splinterlands introducing a new Archon from the Conclave Arcana Conflict event, namely Brave the Bull.
The Power of Brave the Bull in the Arena
Stat-wise, Brave the Bull is a 7-mana Archon with a rather unique set of abilities. It has Bloodline Dominion for two bloodlines: Djinn and Minotaur. All units from those bloodlines can be summoned from any element and automatically gain the Last Stand ability.

Personally, I find this very intriguing. Last Stand means that when only one unit remains on our team, that unit gains +50% to all stats and HP. In practice, this can transform a nearly defeated monster into a “last survivor” that is extremely difficult to take down.
In addition, Brave also has Tactics that grant two different abilities to two separate units:
- Execute
- Armored Strike
Execute allows a monster to attack again if its target is left with 2 HP or less. So imagine an already strong monster getting the chance to finish off an opponent without giving them time to retaliate.
Meanwhile, Armored Strike provides additional melee damage based on the amount of armor a unit has. When applied to a heavily armored monster, the damage potential can become truly brutal.
When I Imagine Team Combinations
Honestly, when I first read these abilities, I immediately started imagining team combinations. That has already become a habit of mine whenever a new card is introduced.
Brave the Bull seems especially well-suited for Djinn or Minotaur units, which are already known for their strength. Imagine a high-damage unit also receiving Execute—its attacks could feel like a chain reaction, knocking down one enemy and then moving on to the next.
The Armored Strike ability also makes me think about monsters with thick armor. Usually, armor only serves as protection. But with this ability, armor turns into an additional source of damage.
This is where I feel the card design is quite clever. It doesn’t just provide buffs; it also shifts how we perceive certain stats in battle.
My Reflection on Brave the Bull
What interests me most about this card is the strategic philosophy behind it. Brave the Bull isn’t just about hitting hard from the start. It also offers the possibility of a comeback through Last Stand.

In many Splinterlands matches, we often feel the game is lost when only one monster remains. But with this ability, that very moment can become the point where surprises emerge.
I really like cards that create that kind of dramatic potential.
In my opinion, Brave the Bull has the potential to become a very compelling Archon for players who enjoy aggressive strategies while still keeping a backup plan.
If this card ever makes its way into my collection, some strategies I’d like to try include:
- Choosing high-damage Djinn or Minotaur units to fully benefit from Last Stand.
- Assigning Execute to high-attack monsters to clear enemies more quickly.
- Placing Armored Strike on heavily armored units to maximize bonus damage.
In the end, Brave the Bull reminds me of one simple truth in the Splinterlands arena:
sometimes victory does not come from the number of troops remaining, but from who is still standing at the end of the battle.
And true to its name, this Archon may very well become one of the most dangerous commanders once the fight reaches its final moments.
