Smooth Strategies, but One Duel Changed Everything

Greetings warriors of the Splinterlands arena.

As usual, we meet again in this small note after the Brawl has ended—a tradition that for some might only be about numbers and statistics, but for me it always feels like a small story from the battlefield of cards in the world of Splinterlands.

This time I was assigned 5 battles. As often happens, there were also a few empty slots from the opposing side. Four battles were counted as automatic victories because the opposing guild did not fill those frays.

That means I only truly stepped into the arena for 5 real duels.

And honestly, this time it felt quite enjoyable. The strategy I prepared worked out fairly neatly. The monster compositions I chose fit well with the rulesets that appeared. One match even ended quickly because the opponent chose to flee, perhaps after seeing my team composition and deciding it wasn’t worth extending the story.
Or maybe they simply forgot to submit their battle formation before time ran out.

But of course, as always, there is usually one small story that teaches us something.

In one of the battles, I relied too heavily on Quora Towershead. We all know this gladiator card can become extremely dangerous once Bloodlust starts stacking.

The problem was, I got a little too confident.

That battle had a low mana cap, yet I still tried to build a strategy as if the arena gave Quora plenty of room to grow. My opponent apparently read the situation far more sharply.

They deployed Katrelba Gobson, a gladiator card well known for its fast attacks and ability to exploit the right targets.

The result? My team, which leaned too heavily on a single card, eventually collapsed.

If you want to see how that defeat unfolded, you can watch the battle here:

Sometimes it goes that way.
We arrive with confidence, but return home with a new lesson.

Contribution to the Guild

Even though there was one loss, overall my results were quite good. From all the matches in my fray, I managed to contribute 24 points for the guild.

After all guild members completed their battles, the final result was quite satisfying.

Guild CLANFT managed to collect:

  • 312 total points
  • 104 victories

And that result brought us to second place in this Brawl.

Not first place, but it still felt like solid teamwork.

The rewards we received were also quite nice:

  • 2,300 Merits for each member who fully participated
  • 23.032 staked SPS for players who have a spellbook

The SPS I received was immediately staked. Little by little, it eventually becomes a mountain.

Lessons from This Brawl

If there’s one thing I learned this week, it might be this:

Relying too heavily on a single card can become a trap.

No matter how strong that card is—even a card like Quora—Splinterlands always leaves room for the opponent’s strategy to turn the tide.

For those of you participating in Brawls:

  • Don’t rely too much on a single powerful monster.
  • Pay close attention to the ruleset and mana cap.
  • And most importantly, join a guild that actively discusses strategies.

See you in the next Brawl report, warriors of the arena.
May our strategies grow sharper—and our opponents begin to feel uneasy. ⚔️

Greetings,
Katrelba Gobson is such a clever counter when someone stacks too much faith in one monster. Nice performance during this brawl challenge.

Thanks! Katrelba Gobson is indeed a great counter for single-carry teams. Glad you enjoyed the battle!
