Bringing Down the Ferocity Under HANV’s Shadow

Hello Splinterlands warriors, how are you today?
Hope your land card minting is going smoothly, because in the arena, as we know, those who aren’t prepared often become nothing more than a short story.

This time, I want to share a battle that felt quite “loud”—not because it was crowded, but because every round hit like a small explosion that determined fate.

The active ruleset was Heavy Hitters, with a 42 mana cap, and limited elements: fire, death, and dragon. I chose dragon with the archon Kavor Skarn. The reason is simple: flexibility. And in situations like this, flexibility feels like an extra breath.

My strategy this time was a bit reckless—or maybe a calculated kind of reckless:

  • Mindless Thrall
  • Night Reaper
  • Gravebrand Warlock

Three magic monsters, each dealing 3 damage.

Plus:

  • Ujurak Brave for silence
  • Dragon Egg Forager as a “cleanup unit” with scavenger

I picked this formation for one reason:
if you can’t last long, then finish it faster.

And as always, the arena never gives an easy path.

The opponent came in with archon HANV.
I immediately knew—this wouldn’t be a relaxed fight.

And sure enough, Ballista Deadshot gained Double Strike.
Meaning? One round, two attacks. And those aren’t light hits.

Round 1: The Surprise Comes Early

The battle began.

I held my breath seeing the damage potential from Ballista Deadshot. But the surprise came from my side: Dragon Egg Forager immediately eliminated Thambo Diamalo.

A sweet opening. But not everything went smoothly.
Mindless Thrall fell early after taking heavy magic damage. At that point, I realized: this would be a fast fight… but not a simple one.

Round 2: When Hope Starts to Grow

In the second round, I began to see an opening. Dragon Egg Forager started “harvesting HP” with its Scavenger ability. The more units fell, the stronger it became.

More importantly, my two remaining spellcasters started working consistently.

Their attacks slowly wore down the enemy tank. And finally… it fell.

That’s when the position shifted.
Ballista Deadshot moved to the front. And this is where the real test began.

Round 3: Holding at the Edge of Impact

Ballista Deadshot attacked twice.
Twice!

But this is where Ujurak Brave made a difference:

  • Silence reduced magic damage
  • Its solid HP kept it from falling instantly

I remember thinking: “If this breaks… we lose.”

And then it happened. Night Reaper delivered a magic attack that was… just enough.
Ballista Deadshot fell. And after that, victory finally went to my team.

Interesting Takeaways from This Battle

A few things really stood out:

  1. Three magic units with 3 damage each is no small number
In one round, they can erase a tank.

  2. Ujurak Brave is an emotional stabilizer
Under pressure, it felt like a reminder: “Stay calm, this is still winnable.”

  3. Scavenger is a short-term investment with fast returns
Dragon Egg Forager transformed from support into a finisher.

Closing: Winning Under Pressure

This battle felt like walking on a tightrope.
One wrong step, and it’s over.
But with balance, you can make it to the end.
And this time, I made it across.

Because in this arena, sometimes the winner isn’t the strongest…
but the one who organizes their strength the best.
