Taper long run

IMG_0020.jpeg

Less than 2 weeks before the Coast Marathon, my taper plan suggested to run between 18 and 22 km today.

Yesterday evening I texted a few guys with whom I occasionally run, to see if anyone wanted to join. One of these guys, that will also run the Coast was available, so we made it a fun social run!

Our pace was mostly zone 1 and 2, except for some smaller climbs and the last kilometer where I wanted to do a little tempo after dropping him off at his place.

We picked a route that combined forest with mountainbike trails which was awesome. During the run we spotted 2 Scotsh Highlanders (cows / bison-like) that where quite impressive. As they seemed to be relaxing I came closer to give one a hug, which he didn’t seem to mind!

Nutritio wise I did bring some water with me but opted out on gels, for me that is something that becomes usefull if you run >26km.
When I got back home my daughter told me she wanted to practice for the kids run in April, so we went for a nice additional kilometer together.

With todays run, my weekly total for this week got to 65km, perfectly in line with the taper plan!

Happy running!

That Scottish Highlander is great. When I was young, we lived a place where they had a whole farm with them. At one point it was possible to buy steaks made from them.
I have NAVER tasted anything like it, it was so extremely tender and tasty 🤤🤤

It's good to do a run in company and the path you did looks very nice

What a pretty place to run, the hills and mountain bike paths! That Scottish Highlander is pretty cool, I've never seen one before myself. They aren't very common on this side of the pond. That one must be used to people if it didn't mind your company, animals can be unpredictable at times.

Great run with your friend there, you put in some nice kilometers. Plus you got to run an extra one at the end with your daughter, that must have been special. Spending time with your kids is the best time you'll ever spend!
