Remember, Remember the 5th of November! ๐ŸŽถ ttt232

Hello hello silver bloggers, music lovers and Hello hivers!

Inspiration don't you just love it? I know most of you lot love your Halloween but for me growing up by far the better holiday here in the UK was Guy Fawkes night or Bonfire night.

Penny for the Guy anyone... I don't even know if they do that anymore, but I did as a kid!

image.png

Do you know what I am talking about?

The Background of Bonfire Night

Tomorrow marks Guy Fawkes Night, or Bonfire Night, a unique British tradition that dates all the way back to 5 November 1605. This was the date that the Gunpowder Plot was foiled!

A group of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate King James.

The day is now commemorated with bonfires, fireworks, and the ceremonial burning of an effigy (the "Guy"). Itโ€™s a spectacular night of fire, light, and noise! Every house used to have their own fireworks and displays and bonfires, now though it is bigger community ones, although I hear fireworks popping off as I write this!

image.png

The lead image picture was taken yesterday afternoon of one of my neighbour's houses who keep their decorations up until after Bonfire night!

Isn't is sad how our traditions die out, that gives me an idea for a Silver Chronicles prompt!

So surprise surprise today we are having three tunes with fireworks and bonfires in their titles!

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 232 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Tom Waits (Blue Valentine) for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 232 - win some HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽผ and #threetunetuesday

Just to show I like some light genres we kick off with an American female singer who I quite like!

Tune 1 - Katy Perry - Firework

Released: October 26, 2010

From the Album: Teenage Dream (2010)

Actually such an uplifting and motivating song, needs no more introduction!

image.png

Tune 2 - The Doors โ€“ Light My Fire

I mean I had to right!

One of my favourite songs of all time and what a band they were.

Released: April 24, 1967 (Single Version)

From the Album: The Doors (1967)

9 minutes and 22 seconds but what a voice

Jim Morrison was one of the founder members of the 27 club and nobody really knows how he died. There was no autopsy done but I think the belief is he died from an overdose of heroin in a club and then his body was taken by to his girlfriends apartment in Paris. He is buried there and I have been one of the ones who made the pilgrimage to see his grave.
image.png

We finish up with a tune from one of my relatives

Tune 3 - James Blunt - Bonfire Heart

Do you know that James Blunt is actually James Blount. We are originally French and the surname came from Blond. Anyway it is a silent o but people get confused. Bit you don't go around calling Doug as Douge do you!

Yeah so here we go, a distant relative and another cracking voice to play us out...

I think you will like this one @asiaymalay

Released: 6 October 2013
From the Album: Moon Landing (2013).

So there you have it โ€” my three picks for Bonfire Night tomorrow.

Which was your favourite tune? Or have you never heard of them?

I can already guess what the next chronicle will be about! I liked all three singers and all three songs. I've listened to all three and I love their music. I adore James Blunt's You're Beautiful. A hug full of fireworks, Ed

Every now and then. It's hard though. I read slow, so it feels more like work most of the time versus enjoyment.

My wife does a book on her Kindle, a real book, and an audio book all at the same time. I think she is up to 80 books read this year already.

Guy Fawkes Night... Seems like he played a major part in the assasination attempt for his name to be used to commemorate the day.

All beautiful tunes for #ttt. Fireworks is always a classic song to listen to.

Hope you'll have lots of fun tonight.

There were 13 of them, but he was the one that stand outs. Four were killed while being arrested, one died in prison before he could be executed. The first four were executed one day and the next four including Guy Fawkes the next day.

A celebration seldom seen here anymore, grew up with Guy Fawkes setting alight a homemade guy filled with 'tom thumb' crackers. Always followed by a braai with family arriving to join in (Aunts and Uncles), some good memories, alas no more!

Yes it is a shame, we used to have great gatherings too. Our braai was sausages on the fire!

Aaah I do love this time of year so many festivities!! Its Halloween, Then Guy Fawkes and before you know it the kids are on holiday and you're Christmas shopping and then popping bubbly for the new year! Where the heck has the year gone btw? Guy Fawkes used to be massive here, but thanks to some absolute morons setting fire to our mountains and wildlife reserves, as well as general concern for the affect on domestic animals, the law comes down pretty hard on anyone letting off unlicensed fireworks.

I do understand, really, as an animal lover...

But it also makes me so sad. Some of my fondest memories as a child was being held by my mother with my feet in her pockets, watching the fireworks together. And one of the only good childhood memories I have of my dad was him setting off various fireworks in our back yard, including a Catherine wheel! The authorities to seem to turn a bit of a blind eye to the beach here in Table View which is a literal hot spot for fireworks and probably the only place left where the public can let off their own fireworks.

I guess the cops figure it's better and safer to allow people to do this and bend the rules in an environment that is very safe, with lots of sand and a giant ocean, rather than letting them off in their back yards or other unsafe areas.

Getting TO the beachfront on Guy Fawkes is another story though. The traffic gets so backed up that you can't really even get there. Unless you camp out there all day.

Sigh... how times have changed... but we still celebrate what we can, right?

The year really has flown by! I am glad it is not just me.

As a kid we used to have a blast, halloween was carving turnips to make jack o lanterns, then all the games like dookin for apples etc, then guy fawkes and penny for a guy, then like you say the garden bonfire at home. The fireworks and the catherine wheels were awesome. We used to have well done proper sausages cooked on the fire too!

People still have fireworks but it is more the bigger displays. I am with you on animals, which is why I get pissed off at New Year, fireworks should be once a year at Bonfire night only. That way animal carers know when to watch out for their pets.

Traditions are dying out here it is sad. Times really have changed and I will stop before I go on a rant ๐Ÿคฃ

I hope you are enjoying the job!
