When the Guild Took First Place Again, But Possibilus the Wise Taught Me a Lesson
![]()
Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!
I hope your spirits are still burning bright even though crypto prices are going through a rough patch. That’s the nature of crypto—sometimes green like a tropical forest, sometimes red like freshly picked chilies. But one thing never changes: the Splinterlands arena remains lively and full of surprises.
This week I once again joined a Brawl with my beloved guild, ClaNFT. For those of you who might be new, Brawl is one of the most exciting competitive guild modes in Splinterlands. This is where teamwork is truly tested. It’s not just about who owns the strongest cards, but also who can craft the best strategy to contribute points for the guild.
And the good news is, after failing to reach the top three in the previous Brawl, this time ClaNFT made a comeback and claimed first place. A result that truly brought the guild back to life with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
As usual, I was once again trusted to take Fray 12. At this point, it feels like a regular seat at a coffee shop—whether I arrive early or late, I always end up in the same spot.

In this fray, there were nine possible wins to secure. Out of those, four were automatically awarded to me because the opposing guild didn’t fill their slots. The remaining five battles, however, had to be fought in the arena.
The results were quite satisfying. Out of the five battles I played, I won three and lost two. Combined with the automatic wins, I contributed a total of 7 wins and 2 losses, equivalent to 21 points for the guild.

Not a perfect result, but enough to make me smile when looking at the final recap.
When all guild members’ points were counted, ClaNFT secured first place. The rewards were also quite enjoyable:
- 45 Crowns
- 2,250 Merits for each fully participating member
- 24,221 Staked SPS for players who own a Spellbook
Additional SPS is always welcome. Even if it’s not enough to make my wallet grin widely, at least my staking collection continues to grow little by little.
When Possibilus the Wise Shattered My Expectations
Even though the guild’s final result was very satisfying, there’s one battle that still lingers in my mind.
The match took place with a 45 mana cap, a wide enough range to deploy many strong monsters. I felt quite confident when setting up my formation.

I chose Captain Frankie as my Archon and built a team focused on melee attacks. I also included Olivia of the Brook, hoping her Mimic ability would surprise my opponent.
Unfortunately, my opponent had a much more refined plan.
They used Possibilus the Wise, one of the most dangerous Archons against melee compositions in my opinion. The additional Trample ability it grants turns every elimination into a chain threat.
At first, I was still confident the battle would be balanced. But as the rounds progressed, the enemy team started moving like a train without brakes. One monster fell—Trample activated. Another fell—Trample triggered again.
All I could do was watch as my seemingly solid formation slowly collapsed.
If you’d like to see how the defeat unfolded in full, you can check the battle here:
This loss reminded me that in Brawl, having strong cards alone is not enough. Sometimes the right combination of Archon and ruleset makes all the difference.
Saving Up for 20,000 Merits
Aside from the Brawl rewards, there’s something else that has me excited.
Right now, my savings have reached 17,000 Merits.
Technically, that’s already enough to open seven Gladius Cases. But for some reason, I’m tempted to be a little more patient. My new target is 20,000 Merits, so I can open 10 Gladius Cases at once.
Waiting can be painful. But that’s also where the fun lies. The more packs you open at once, the greater the excitement—and the hope of getting that one card you’ve been aiming for.
So it looks like I just need to wait for one more Brawl before the pack-opening celebration begins.
Closing
This Brawl delivered two flavors at once: sweet, because ClaNFT returned to first place, and bitter, because I had to acknowledge the strength of Possibilus the Wise in one of my matches.
But that’s Splinterlands. Sometimes we win, sometimes we learn. And often, the most valuable lessons come from defeat.
My advice for those of you actively playing Brawl: don’t just focus on expanding your card collection. Take time to understand Archon combinations, rulesets, and monster positioning. More often than not, victory is determined by small details we tend to overlook.
See you in the next Brawl report. May SPS recover, Merits accumulate quickly, and may the Gladius Cases I open reward me with something truly special.
