When the Chest Shakes… But It’s Not a Legendary

Hello Splinterlands warriors.
The new season has finally begun again, and as usual the previous season leaves behind one thing that always makes me smile even before opening anything: Glint. For me personally, Glint is like a “final report card.” It reflects how diligent, how patient, and how often we’re willing to lose but keep playing anyway.

Over the last two seasons, the results have been fairly sweet. A total of 75k Glint was collected. Even though earlier I had drained a lot of Glint to upgrade Exemplar to level 10, which honestly made my digital wallet feel pretty thin. But this time I wanted a change of pace. Not upgrades, not cosmetics, but… new cards. So the collection feels more alive, not just the same one or two monsters over and over again.

From that total, I decided to use 50k Glint to open Major Chests. In my opinion, Major Chests are the most “fair” type. The cost and rewards feel balanced, and if you’re lucky, the results can be worth more than the Glint you spend.

As usual, I also used potions, even though we all know potions sometimes feel more like psychological suggestion than a guarantee of luck.

Then came the moment that always makes my hands tremble a bit: opening 20 chests at once. It feels like opening birthday presents where the contents could be cards, potions, or just a bittersweet smile.

The result? Not bad.
What appeared on the screen included:

• Coralforged
• Grim Bonewhip
• Mindless Thrall
• Withered Old Sage
• Thornmaw Berserker

In total there were 3 rare cards, several commons, and one extra card. Now, the interesting part was actually that extra card. When the chest opened, the screen shook. My reflex was immediately, “Whoa, this must be a legendary.”
Turns out it wasn’t. What came out was Shadowcomb Duskrose. Not a legendary, but it still felt special because the tense moment had already built up.

Besides cards, of course merits and potions also filled the chests. Not spectacular, but realistic. And most importantly, from these results I was able to upgrade two cards in my collection.

First, Careless Badger from the Death element went up to level 2 and gained the Opportunity ability. It’s a small but significant upgrade, because now I have more Opportunity monsters at low mana. For me, this is the kind of upgrade that impacts many matches, not just a single ruleset.

Second, Oshannus Unmade from the Neutral element. An additional monster with the Dispel ability in the ranged line is clearly useful, especially in a meta increasingly filled with buffs and unusual skills.

Now there’s still 25k Glint left, which I plan to use to dress up Exemplar again. So this Glint story isn’t truly over yet—just paused for a moment.

The end-of-season results this time weren’t explosive, but satisfying and useful. The strategy in moments like this is simple: balance between gambling and real needs. Opening chests is fine, hoping for luck is fine, but make sure the results still strengthen the foundation of your collection.

Because in Splinterlands, big victories don’t come from a single rare card, but from many small, consistent decisions.
