When Strategy Is Tested and Reality Speaks

Translation:

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

On this occasion, I’d like to once again share my experience from the latest Brawl with my beloved guild, ClaNFT. As we all know, Brawl is one of the most exciting features in Splinterlands because it’s where guild members fight under their team’s name to compete for Crowns, Merits, SPS, and of course, guild pride. Win or lose, there’s always an interesting story to take home.

As usual, I was once again placed in Fray 12. It feels like this position has become my permanent address every time a Brawl begins—whether because it suits me well or because my guildmates have grown used to seeing me play there.

Interestingly, this Brawl wasn’t very crowded. Out of the nine available battle slots, I only had to fight in six active matches. The remaining three slots were automatically counted as wins because the opposing guild did not fill those frays.

On paper, this situation looks advantageous. However, as the saying goes, numbers can sometimes be kinder than reality.

Out of the six matches I actually played, I only managed to win one battle. The other five had to be conceded to my opponents. In the end, I secured a total of four wins, consisting of one actual victory and three automatic ones.

To be honest, my personal result this time was not very satisfying. Automatic wins still count, but they feel different compared to victories earned through real strategy and combat.

Fortunately, Brawl is a team effort—not an individual struggle.

Even though my performance wasn’t shining, my guildmates performed much better. Overall, ClaNFT recorded: 104 wins, 31 losses, and 312 points.

That result was enough to secure third place in this Brawl.

As a reward for our collective effort, the guild earned: 2,400 Merits for each fully participating member and 24,416 Staked SPS for players who own a Spellbook.

In my opinion, this is still a solid result. It may not be the top position, but it shows that ClaNFT can compete with other strong guilds.

One Memorable Victory

Among the six battles I played, there was one match that I believe is worth remembering—and learning from.

You can view the battle here:

Why did I choose this match? Because it was the only victory I truly earned through my own strategy and calculation.

The opponents in Fray 12 this time were truly formidable. Almost every player I faced used high-level cards with well-thought-out combinations. Several times I felt I had built my best team, only to find that my opponent had an even better answer.

In the battle I won, everything went according to plan. The monster placement felt right, the attack sequence worked effectively, and for once, luck was on my side. In Splinterlands, a single victory like that can feel more valuable than several easy wins due to absent opponents.

Lessons from This Brawl

There’s one lesson that stood out again after this Brawl: other players never stop improving.

Sometimes we focus too much on strengthening our own collection and forget that others are doing the same. They acquire new cards, develop new strategies, and adapt to the ever-changing meta.

This Brawl served as a reminder that last week’s victories do not guarantee success next week. Every match must be treated as a new challenge.

For new players, joining an active guild like ClaNFT is not just about earning Merits and SPS. Even casual discussions about rulesets or team compositions can spark ideas you hadn’t considered before. That’s why I always recommend new players to actively engage in discussions, not just show up to claim rewards.

As usual, I haven’t used the Merits I earned yet. The amount is still not enough to open 5 Gladius Cases at once.

So for now, I’ll keep saving. Once I have enough, I’ll definitely share the results of opening those Gladius Cases in a future post. Who knows—I might get a rare Gladiator card or even discover a new favorite.

Closing

That’s the story of my Brawl this time. For those of you experiencing a losing streak, don’t be discouraged. In Splinterlands, losses are often a more diligent teacher than victories. Keep trying new strategies, gradually strengthen your card collection, and make use of your guild community to learn.

See you in the next Brawl. May SPS find its way upward soon, may Merits quickly reach 10,000, and may luck be on our side when opening Gladius Cases. Happy battling, Splinterlands warriors! ⚔️
