When Saved Merits Are Finally Opened

Hello, Splinterlands warriors,
this time I want to share a small story—about exchanging merits for Gladius Cases and opening gladiator cards.

For me personally, merits feel like loose change savings that I collect little by little. You barely notice them increasing from one Brawl to the next. But when you check again after some time, oh… it turns out they’ve piled up quite nicely.

And this time the number landed exactly at 10k merits.

Which simply means: it’s time to go to the Guild Shop and exchange them for 5 Gladius Cases. Five small gifts with unpredictable contents—sometimes average, sometimes the kind that makes a player smile all day.

Honestly, every time I open a Gladius Case, I always have two feelings at once.
First: hoping for a good gladiator card.
Second: already prepared if the result is just ordinary. Because well… gacha is still gacha.

So I finally opened the packs. Click one, then flip all as usual.
Several cards appeared immediately and… yes, the results were quite realistic.

In total, I got 6 rare cards, and the rest were common.

Not the kind of result that makes someone jump out of their chair. But in the Gladius world, sometimes what we’re looking for isn’t just rarity, but the number of copies to level up.

And right when I was almost done opening the cards, a small surprise appeared that was quite heartwarming.

On the final flip, a gold foil Katrelba Gobson card showed up.

You don’t get a gold card from a Gladius Case every day, so even though it wasn’t legendary, it still felt special. At the very least, my gold card collection increased by one, and that always brings its own sense of satisfaction.

Besides that gold card, there’s one thing I find far more important than the opening results: card upgrades.

From the copies I collected, two cards finally leveled up.

First is HUGO STRONGSWORD, which successfully reached level 6. This upgrade adds +1 HP to its stats. It may look small, but in the arena, sometimes one extra HP is the difference between surviving one more round or falling immediately.

The second is BERTROL GOBSON, which also reached level 6 and finally gained the Poison ability. This is what I find especially interesting. Poison is often a quietly deadly effect, particularly in long battles or when facing a thick tank.

Thinking about it, this is exactly what I like about the merits and Gladius system in Splinterlands.
There are no shortcuts to getting them. We have to join Brawls, contribute to the guild, and slowly accumulate merits until we have enough to open cases.

There’s a sense of collective progress in it.

Sure, this time I didn’t find a legendary gladiator card. But honestly, I still feel satisfied. A new gold card, two cards leveled up, and a small reminder that in Splinterlands, progress often comes little by little.

So keep collecting merits consistently, open Gladius Cases when you have enough, and focus on leveling up the gladiators you frequently use in Brawls.

Because sometimes big victories don’t come from flashy new cards…
but from old cards that have finally become strong enough to change the course of battle. ⚔️
