The Next War Begins with Mage Wagons

Hello, Splinterlands warriors!

From a distance, war in Splinterlands looks simple: cards enter the arena, attack, and one team wins. But behind those few minutes of battle, another war moves more slowly: gathering resources, building strategies, and preparing your collection.

That is what we are seeing again ahead of the Fourth Escalation Conflict, which begins on August 27, 2026 at 12 PM ET / 4 PM UTC and runs for 30 days.

The main star is, of course, El Jefe, the Legendary Archon with Bloodline Dominion: Tortisian. But if we focus only on the card, we might miss an important part of the story: Mage Wagons.

In this event, players load eligible cards or packs into Mage Wagons. Each wagon can hold 5 cards or 100 packs, and every card or pack generates Conflict Points. Every 100,000 points grants one Conflict Chance.

But not every collection can be used. Only cards from the Escalation Mini-Set and Escalation Promo, as well as Escalation Packs, are eligible.

That means your collection becomes a weapon. If you don't have the right cards, this is not a war you can win with good intentions alone.

Collection Power Becomes a Weapon

For Regular Foil, Gold Foil, and Gold Foil Arcane cards, Conflict Points are based on Collection Power. Black Foil and Black Foil Arcane cards receive 60% of their Collection Power. Meanwhile, an Escalation Standard Pack generates 125 points.

What's interesting is that cards are no longer simply tools for battle. A collection that has been sitting quietly in your inventory can suddenly become a strategic resource.

This benefits veteran players, but creates a challenge for newcomers.

To participate, players need at least 1 Mage Wagon or 2 Wagon Kits. Building a new wagon requires:

  • 17,500 Wood
  • 7,000 Stone
  • 1,750 Iron
  • 1,250 Aura

And a damaged wagon requires 1 Wagon Kit to repair.

So before building more wagons, check your warehouse first.

Don't let your enthusiasm for war become greater than your supply of resources.

There Is a Price for an Airdrop

This is where things get really interesting.

Every Conflict card obtained through an airdrop will cause one Mage Wagon to become damaged. The damage applies across your entire wagon inventory, not just the wagon that was used.

Have 100 wagons but only use 30?

If you receive 40 Grimdave cards, 40 wagons from your entire collection can become damaged.

Usually, getting a reward makes people cheer.

Here, after cheering, we might have to open the warehouse and say:

“Now, who's going to repair the wagons?”

Rewards and Foil Fortune Draws

Every 100,000 Conflict Points gives you one airdrop chance. For the Fourth Escalation Conflict, each entry has a 0.266667% chance of obtaining El Jefe, with a guaranteed drop after 375 entries.

Premium Foils have their own path through the leaderboard and Foil Fortune Draws. The top ten positions receive rewards. First place receives 10 Gold Foils and one Limited Edition Skin.

So the competition isn't simply about getting El Jefe.

It's also about reaching the top of the leaderboard.

Conflict Chances can also be allocated to Foil Fortune Draws. Alchemy Potion is used for Gold Foil, Midnight Potion for Black Foil, and Lustrous Potion for Gold Foil Arcane and Black Foil Arcane.

Potion bonuses can increase entries to as much as twice the number of allocated Chances.

But be careful: once confirmed, the allocation cannot be changed.

Don't let your finger move faster than your brain.

Closing Thoughts

The Fourth Escalation Conflict is bringing El Jefe to Praetoria, but the real war begins long before August 27.

It begins when we start calculating our cards, wagons, resources, and risks.

Battle is only one side of Splinterlands.

The collection economy is the other.

So don't wait until the final day. Check your collection, calculate your Conflict Points, prepare your Mage Wagons and resources, and decide what rewards you're aiming for.

Because when the Fourth Escalation Conflict opens, there will be no time left to ask:

“Where's my wagon?”

By then, the war will already have begun.

And El Jefe will be waiting.
