The Most Annoying Card in Splinterlands? Here’s Why!

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors,
This time I want to share a story about a card that, honestly… often makes me take a deep breath before a battle even begins. Its name might sound unfamiliar, but its impact is impossible to ignore: MAHKAH HEMLIG.
MAHKAH HEMLIG is a Legendary monster from the Earth Splinter in the Conclave Arcana edition. From its appearance alone, it looks elegant—but don’t be fooled, this is not just a pretty card.

It’s a magic attacker with speed 4, and one main ability that immediately puts me on alert:
Opportunity.
What does that mean?
It doesn’t care who’s in front as the tank. It goes straight for the monster with the lowest HP on your team.
And what’s even more “brutal”… it deals 4 magic damage right from level 1.
The first time I faced MAHKAH HEMLIG, I didn’t fully understand how dangerous it was. I thought, “Ah, just another magic attacker.”
I was very wrong.
With the combination of:
- Opportunity (targets lowest HP immediately)
- Magic damage (ignores armor)
My backline monsters dropped one by one… before they even had a chance to contribute.
And as it levels up, it becomes even more annoying:
- Deflect → immune to thorns, magic reflect, return fire
- Scavenger → gains more HP as the battle goes on
- Triage → can even heal allies in the backline
So it’s not just a killer—it’s also… a life support system for its own team. Ironic, but effective.
Battle Moment: When Everything Falls Apart
There was one battle that really stuck with me.

I had built my team confidently. Strong tank, solid support to deal with flying enemies, even anticipated sneak attacks.
But I forgot one thing:
Opportunity magic like MAHKAH HEMLIG doesn’t need a path.
One by one, my monsters disappeared.
Cleaner gone. Support gone. Finisher… gone too.
And by the time I realized what was happening, all that remained was defeat.
Losing? Of course.
But what hit harder was… I lost before I even truly got to play.
Why It Feels “Unfair”: Opportunity + Magic
What makes MAHKAH HEMLIG unique is a rare combination:
Opportunity + Magic Attack
Usually:
- Opportunity is tied to melee → must break armor first
- But here? Straight to HP
So if your opponent isn’t prepared, it’s basically a “shortcut” to victory.
And honestly, that’s what makes this card feel incredibly strong… and a little annoying. 😄

And after losing several times, I started adapting.
The most effective ways to deal with MAHKAH HEMLIG:
- Use Silence (to reduce magic damage)
- Strengthen your backline with higher HP
- Use Taunt to redirect its target
- Or play the Death element with magic control
From my experience, once you suppress its magic damage… it starts to feel more “manageable.”
Final Thoughts: Impression & Strategy
If you ask me what I think about MAHKAH HEMLIG?
Simple:
annoying… but impressive.
Strategies you can take:
- Use it to eliminate enemy support quickly
- Combine it with a team that controls tempo
- Be cautious if the opponent has Silence or anti-magic
And if you don’t have this card yet…
at the very least, be ready when you face it in the arena.
Because one thing I’ve learned:
in Splinterlands, it’s not always the biggest that wins… but the one that removes what matters fastest.
See you in the arena. And may your backline not be the next victim. 😄
