Opening Draws Earlier: An Aggressive Start to the Season

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors.
This season feels like I started with a pretty fast pace. Usually I take it easy at the beginning of a season, but this time, for some reason, my fighting spirit is at its peak. Maybe it’s because of one feature that I find quite interesting: turning SPS into Glint.
Through the BURN SPS for Glint feature, I can directly convert some of my Splintershards (SPS) into Glint. It feels like trading old fuel for new ammunition. The result is quite noticeable—in just a few days, the Glint I’ve collected has already reached more than 40k.
For me, that much Glint isn’t just a number. It means an opportunity to strengthen my card collection before the battles get even tougher toward the end of the season.

Usually, I wait until the end of the season to spend my Glint. But this time I made a slightly different decision. Since several cards were already close to having enough BCX to level up, I decided to open the draw earlier.
In the end, I used around 42k Glint to open Rare Draws.
That amount gave me 28 card chances.
Whenever the open button is pressed, the feeling is always the same: a mix of curiosity and a little bit of hope.
And this is what happened.

From the 28 cards I opened, a few finally reached enough BCX to level up.
Four cards were successfully upgraded to level 2:
- SURGEHAMMER
- ANCHOR HEXADEPT
- PIXIE KNIFE HURLER
- SALTWRATH BULKHEAD
The most interesting one for me is ANCHOR HEXADEPT. When it leveled up, the card gained the Divine Shield ability. This ability is simple but very useful—it provides protection from the first attack. In some matches, that small layer of protection can determine whether a card survives one more round or falls immediately.

Then PIXIE KNIFE HURLER also gained the Dodge ability. This makes it more slippery against melee or ranged attacks. Sometimes watching an opponent’s attack miss completely feels quite satisfying.

Meanwhile, SURGEHAMMER and SALTWRATH BULKHEAD received stat increases in armor and HP. Nothing too flashy, but definitely helpful in medium mana cap battles.
With these four card upgrades, I feel my battle line is a bit more solid for the remaining days of the season. Sometimes just one new ability is enough to change the way we build our team.
And of course, the journey isn’t over yet.
I’ll keep collecting more Glint from upcoming battles. Who knows—by the end of the season I might open another draw, or maybe even get a bigger surprise.
Closing
If there’s one lesson from this experience, it might be a simple one:
sometimes opening cards earlier can provide a tactical advantage.
Four cards leveling up might look small on paper, but in the Splinterlands arena, additional abilities like Divine Shield or Dodge can change the course of a match.
My next strategy is clear:
keep collecting Glint, use the Burn SPS for Glint feature wisely, and take advantage of card upgrades to maximize the remaining matches this season.
And who knows… a bigger surprise might be waiting at the end of the season.
Stay tuned for the next story when the season truly comes to an end. ⚔️
