Opening a Gladius Case from a Brawl — A Surprise or Just the Usual Loot?
Hello, Splinterlands warriors!
After completing the latest Brawl, I went back to a routine task that may seem simple to some players, but is actually quite enjoyable for me: checking how many Merits I had accumulated.
It turned out I had enough to open 5 Gladius Cases.
At this point, there wasn't much to think about. The Merits were ready, the Gladius Cases were available to purchase, and my curiosity was starting to kick in. So I headed straight to the Guild Shop and exchanged my Merits for five Gladius Cases.
Five packs were now in my hands.
Now there was only one question: what was inside?
I chose what I thought was the most practical way to open them. I used Open Multiple followed by Flip All. That way, I didn't have to open each card individually by clicking on them one by one. All five packs were opened at once, with every card displayed immediately.
For me, this method is much more convenient. It's faster, and there's also something satisfying about seeing all the cards revealed at once and being able to check the results in a single glance.
The first pack was opened.
And it turned out that Common cards dominated.
Nothing too surprising. I simply looked at the results and thought, “Okay, let's start from the bottom.”
Maybe luck just needed a little warm-up.
Then came the second pack.
Now things started to get a little more interesting. I received 3 Rare cards. Not bad. At least the results were starting to move in a better direction.
But one thing was still missing: an Epic or Legendary.
I moved on to the third pack.
And once again, the result gave me 3 Rare cards.
Thinking about it, that's actually pretty good. Getting three Rares from a single pack is already better than what I would normally expect. There was still no Epic, but I started thinking that perhaps the real surprise had been saved for later.
And it turned out I wasn't completely wrong.
Then came the fourth pack.
I opened it.
And there it was—a Fire-element Epic card.
There we go!
This was where the mood immediately changed. After getting several Rare cards from the previous two packs, I finally pulled an Epic.
Its name was Gorth.
Honestly, I was pretty happy to see it.
Sure, it wasn't a Legendary. But an Epic is still an Epic. And now the card had become a new addition to my collection.
Then came the final pack.
At this point, I was already hoping for an even bigger surprise. But apparently, Splinterlands had its own way of keeping things balanced.
In the fifth pack, I only received 1 Rare card, while the rest were once again filled with Common cards.
I couldn't help but smile.
“Yeah, I guess this is the balancing act.”
If the fourth pack gave me an Epic, the fifth pack seemed to say, “Okay, that's enough excitement. Back to Common cards.”
And that's pretty much what opening Gladius Cases is all about.
You never know what you're going to get. Sometimes Common cards dominate. Sometimes Rare cards show up one after another. Every now and then, an Epic appears and puts a smile on your face. And of course, there's always that little hope of seeing the word Legendary appear.
This time, the Legendary wasn't ready to show up.
And that's okay.
No Legendary this time, but it was still enough to make me smile.
Now there's only one thing left to do: keep participating in Brawls, collect more Merits, and wait for the next chance to open another Gladius Case.
Who knows? Maybe next time, it won't be an Epic that appears.
Maybe Legendary will finally say, “I've arrived.”
For now, I'm happy to take Gorth home.
And that's good enough for me.
