Opening 10 Gladius Cases: Was It Worth 20,000 Merits?

Hello Splinterlands warriors,
Sometimes a Brawl result isn’t as satisfying as we hoped. We put together our best teams, calculate our chances, choose the right frays, and yet the final outcome still doesn’t go our way. But that’s part of what makes Splinterlands unique. Wins and losses come and go, and what matters most is how we continue moving forward together as a guild.
The last few Brawls I played with my guild have been full of stories like that. Sometimes we managed to finish in first place and walked away with big smiles. Other times, we had to settle for fourth place. And in this most recent Brawl, the result wasn’t particularly remarkable. Still, we accepted it with an open mind because every match is part of the journey toward becoming a better player.
Even though this Brawl wasn’t especially memorable in terms of results, there was one thing that still kept me excited: Merits.

Little by little, the Merits I had been collecting finally reached 20,000 Merits. The moment I saw that number, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
It was time to open some Gladius Cases.
Normally, I only open five packs at a time. This time was different. With 20,000 Merits, I could exchange them for 10 Gladius Cases at the Guild Shop.

Honestly, opening ten packs feels different. There’s a sense that the chances of getting something special are much higher. Maybe it’s just the optimism of a dedicated player, but I enjoy that feeling nonetheless.
Without wasting any time, I exchanged all my Merits and immediately clicked the Flip All button.
And then came the moment that always makes my heart beat a little faster.
If you’re curious about the full results, you can check them here:
At first, everything seemed fairly ordinary. A few common and rare cards appeared one after another. I started thinking that this opening session would probably be pretty standard.
Then suddenly, something appeared on the screen that I recognized instantly.
One of the cards started shaking.
And every Splinterlands player knows exactly what that means.
A legendary card.
The moment it flipped over, I couldn’t help but smile.
The card turned out to be Tatiana Blayde.

What made it even more satisfying wasn’t just getting a legendary card—it was the fact that this copy completed the amount I needed. With this addition, Tatiana Blayde had finally reached the number of copies required for a level upgrade.
Moments like these always feel more special than simply receiving a new card. I know that this card won’t just sit in my collection—it will actually strengthen the teams I use in battle.
And the good news didn’t stop there.
After opening all the packs, I started checking which cards had enough copies to level up.
To my surprise, there were several positive developments.
Katrelba Gobson finally advanced to Level 6.
For players who frequently use Gladiator cards, Katrelba Gobson is one of the most exciting cards once she reaches higher levels. The stronger she becomes, the more dangerous her Bloodlust ability is whenever she starts securing eliminations.

On top of that, Liza Fox also reached Level 5.
Seeing two Gladiator cards become significantly stronger in a single opening session made this result feel even more rewarding than simply pulling a legendary card.
There are still plenty of cards that don’t have enough copies for their next level upgrade. But honestly, that’s part of what makes the Gladiator system so enjoyable.
Every pack opened brings progress.
Maybe a card won’t level up today. Maybe it won’t level up next week either. But every additional copy brings it one step closer to new abilities and stronger stats.
In my opinion, that’s one of the reasons why Brawls and Gladius Cases remain so appealing even today. The system rewards players who actively participate alongside their guildmates, not just those who own the biggest collections.
In the end, this session of opening 10 Gladius Cases became one of the best pack-opening experiences I’ve had in quite some time. There was the legendary Tatiana Blayde, level upgrades for Katrelba Gobson and Liza Fox, and steady progress for many other Gladiator cards.
Now my next goal is already clear.
Jump back into Brawls, earn more Merits, and prepare for the next milestone: another 10 Gladius Cases.
Because if this experience taught me anything, it’s that patience in collecting Merits is often rewarded with some very pleasant surprises.
