One Archon, Dozens of Insane Combinations

Hello Splinterlands warriors, welcome back to my post about an upcoming new card. This time, the card has already started appearing in CONCLAVE ARCANA CONFLICTS, and it looks ready to become highly contested. The name is simple, but the impact is anything but: HANV.

Honestly, when I first saw the artwork, I was a bit stunned. This isn’t a dragon, not some bizarre monster—it looks like an ordinary human. But that’s exactly where the horror lies. He feels like a dark knight: calm, composed, and clearly not the type who enters the arena just to pass through.

HANV is a Legendary Fire Archon with a 7 mana cost. His bloodline is Undead, but the interesting part is his Bloodline Dominion: Goblin and Undead. This means all Goblin and Undead units summoned under HANV gain the Deflect skill.

And Deflect is no trivial ability. With Deflect, your units are immune to:

  • Thorns
  • Magic Reflect
  • Return Fire
  • Blast splash damage
  • even Corrosive Ward

In short: your units can attack without fear of the reflection effects that usually cause so much frustration.

But that’s not all. HANV is a Tactics Archon, meaning he grants two skills to one chosen unit:

  • Double Strike → the unit attacks twice each round
  • Swiftness → +1 speed to the entire team (as long as that unit remains alive)

At this point, I started to get suspicious: “This isn’t a summoner—this is a legal cheat.”

Double Strike Is a Sin the System Allows

Double Strike is the core of HANV’s madness. Because of this skill, a single unit can turn into the team’s main executioner.

Two combinations that instantly gave me chills:

1. Rush Townsend

A Legendary Fire ranged unit with 5 damage, Ambush, and Piercing.
Give it Double Strike?
That means 10 damage per round, not counting the ambush attack at the start. In theory, one enemy monster can die before the first round truly even begins.

2. Gramel the Hunger

This one is even crazier. The only unit with triple attack (melee, ranged, and magic).
If given Double Strike:

2 + 2 + 2 = 6
times 2 = 12 damage per round

And because Gramel has Shapeshift, he automatically gains Deflect as well. So he attacks brutally, while being almost impossible to punish with reflection effects.

From just these two examples, HANV forces us to rethink:

  • it’s not just about who has the thickest tank
  • but which unit becomes the most efficient when given Double Strike

And this opens up many insane combinations, especially with:

  • Goblin units like Gobalano Soldier (Ambush + Double Strike)
  • Undead units such as Cullborn Revenant, Mindless Thrall, Desolation
  • Shapeshift units like Bren Palesworn, Calamity

In total, there are 23 units in Modern that can directly benefit from HANV. That’s not a small number.

What people often underestimate is Deflect. Yet this is the skill that quietly dismantles many enemy strategies.

Normally, we rely on:

  • Thorns against melee
  • Return Fire against ranged
  • Magic Reflect against magic

With HANV? All of that becomes meaningless.
Goblin and Undead units under his command are basically saying: “Go ahead and attack—I don’t care about the consequences.”

In certain metas, this can completely throw opponents off their calculations.

The Bitter Reality: Not Everyone Can Own Him

There’s one big problem: HANV is an airdrop conflict card.
That means not every player can realistically expect to own him—especially not at level 4.

Personally, I’ll be honest: I don’t have the resources to even dream of a max-level HANV. So I’m more in the position of a “nervous spectator” than a “proud owner showing off.”

And that’s exactly what makes it interesting.
HANV will become a card that mid-league players quietly curse.

Final Impression

To me, HANV is a true Dark Knight:
not flashy, but every step he takes is lethal.

Because honestly, fighting HANV without preparation feels like facing an endgame boss with a wooden sword.

And maybe that’s the biggest lesson of all:
in Splinterlands, sometimes it’s not the strongest card that wins—but the card that changes how we think about the game itself. And HANV… is clearly one of them.
