Not Many Golds, But Plenty of Level Ups

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors.
After going through a fairly long battle season—filled with small victories, defeats that made me frown, and strategy experiments that sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t—the moment I always look forward to has finally arrived: spending Glint.
For Splinterlands players, Glint is like the harvest after a season of hard work. We collect it little by little from every battle, and at the end of the season we decide: what should we use it for? Upgrades? Chests? Or go straight to opening cards?
This season, the result was pretty decent. From all the battles I fought, I managed to collect around 140k Glint—a tempting amount to immediately use to strengthen my card collection.

This time I didn’t think too long. My goal was clear: add more rare cards from the CA reward edition. Besides expanding my strategic options, I also wanted to chase a few cards that were already close to having enough copies to level up.
So my decision was simple:
all of this Glint would be exchanged for Rare Draws.
With that amount of Glint, I ended up opening about 93 cards. That’s quite a lot—so many that it felt like opening a huge box of cards one by one.
If anyone is curious about the full results, you can see them here:
Out of the 193 cards I opened, the results were honestly not particularly luxurious.
I only got one gold card.

In terms of luck, of course this isn’t the best outcome. But I’m not too disappointed either. In the Splinterlands reward system, sometimes the most important thing isn’t gold or legendary cards—it’s the number of copies needed for upgrades.
And this is where a small surprise appeared.
Some cards had finally reached enough BCX to level up.

From these Rare Draw results, several cards could finally be upgraded:
- Pixie-Knife Hurler
- Gravebrand Warlock
- Anchor-Hex Adept
- Torrent Sniper
These upgrades actually had a noticeable impact on my team.
Take Torrent Sniper, for example.
Previously this card only had 1 magic attack, but after the upgrade it now has 2 magic attack, making it far more useful in magic-based formations.

Then Gravebrand Warlock also became stronger with 3 magic attack, turning it into a much more serious damage dealer.
And that’s not all.
- Mindless Thrall now also has 3 magic attack
- Dragonfang Lancer can now fight with 2 ranged attack plus the Opportunity skill
- Saltwraith Bulkhead now has the Oppress skill, which is very effective against monsters with no attack

Looking at these upgrades made me realize something: sometimes a team’s strength doesn’t come from a single great card, but from many cards leveling up together.
Closing
One thing I really like about the Glint system in Splinterlands is its flexibility. We can choose to open chests, buy specific draws, or focus on certain card types like I did this time.
It gives players more control over how their collection develops.
And even if there’s a card that isn’t very useful—like the gold card I pulled earlier—there’s always the option to burn it back into Glint. So it never really feels like anything goes to waste.
Looking at the overall result, this Rare Draw opening might not have been full of big surprises. There was no rain of gold or legendary cards.
But I’m still satisfied.
Because from 193 cards, I managed to strengthen several important parts of my collection. Upgrades like Torrent Sniper, Gravebrand Warlock, and Saltwraith Bulkhead will definitely help in future battles.
My strategy going forward is pretty simple:
keep collecting Glint next season, and most likely I’ll open Common Draws to complete upgrades for other cards that are still pending.
Who knows—maybe the next opening will bring even better luck.
Because in the world of Splinterlands, one thing is certain:
there’s always a new story every time we open a card. ⚔️
