Losing Is Normal, But This Time Felt Different…

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

Today, April 1st, the atmosphere feels a bit unusual. On one hand, the price of HIVE isn’t exactly in great shape—like a cloudy sky that may or may not bring rain. But on the other hand, Splinterlands keeps delivering surprises: new feature updates, new themed cards, and of course… Brawls that continue without compromise.

And as always, I jumped right into it.

To be honest, my performance this time wasn’t exactly outstanding.

Out of 4 battles I actually played, I only managed to win 1. The rest? Well, I had to admit my opponents were simply better.

However, as often happens in the fray I joined, there was an “unexpected bonus”—4 automatic wins (WO) because the opponent slots were empty.

So in total, I still recorded:

  • 5 wins
  • A solid contribution of points for the guild

And more importantly, as a team…

Our guild managed to **finish in 2nd place. The rewards we received were quite satisfying:

  • 50 Crowns
  • 2,500 Merits
  • 27.832 SPS (staked)

Not bad at all to fuel the next journey.

The Battle That “Taught Me How to Lose Elegantly”

Among all the matches, one really stood out. Not because I won… but because I got completely outplayed in such a clean way.

There, I faced an opponent with what I’d call a nearly perfect team composition.

Not just individually strong, but every monster complemented each other.

What stood out the most was the archon using abilities like:

  • Piercing
  • Scattershot
  • +2 Speed

The result?

Their attacks were not only fast, but also unpredictable. Scattershot randomized targets, high speed ensured they struck first, and piercing made my defenses feel almost useless.

I felt like I was standing in the middle of a bullet storm… without an umbrella.

At that moment, I realized:

Sometimes we don’t lose because our strategy is bad, but because the opponent’s strategy is simply far more refined.

And that’s okay.

That’s where growth happens.

Gladius Pack: Temptation on Hold

Speaking of rewards, from previous Merit accumulation, I now have around 8,000 Merits.

Technically, that’s enough to open 4 Gladius Packs.

But for some reason, I’ve decided to hold back.

There’s a certain satisfaction in opening 5 packs at once. More dramatic, more suspenseful—and who knows… maybe luckier 😄

So for now, I’ll save them. The goal is clear: next brawl should get me enough for 5 packs.

Closing

This brawl may not have been my best in terms of personal performance. But it was still enjoyable.

There were wins, losses, and lessons.

And most importantly… there was a story.

A few quick takeaways from me:

👉 Don’t be afraid to lose against stronger teams—that’s your best reference for improvement.
👉 Pay attention to ability combinations, not just individual card strength.
👉 And if you’ve got enough Merits… be patient, open multiple packs at once 😄

See you in the next Brawl. Hopefully next time, it’s not just our Merits that increase… but also the quality of our gameplay. ⚔️
