Land Can Now Craft Cards!

Hello Splinterlands warriors, welcome back to my little notes about my journey in the world of Praetoria. Sometimes it’s about dramatic victories, sometimes about defeats that make you shake your head, and sometimes about new features that force us to relearn how to play.

Last season actually ended quite pleasantly for me. The Glint I collected increased, and my card collection also started to feel more solid. In short, I finished the season feeling fairly satisfied—not perfect, but enough to make me excited to enter the next season.

New news has arrived from the world of Praetoria. This time it’s not just new cards from packs, but something I find quite interesting: craftable cards from the Land system.

On March 31, two new cards will be introduced that can be crafted directly from resources produced by Land. This means that for players who own Land, resource production is no longer just numbers increasing every day. It can now turn into a real in-game asset.

The two cards introduced are Thessok Clan Hunter and Ghostly Blacksmith.

The first one, Thessok Clan Hunter, comes from the Fire element with a mana cost of 7 and the Saurian bloodline. Its max-level stats are quite solid: 4 melee attack, speed 5, and health 8. But what’s most interesting is the abilities it brings.

At the starting level it already has Apex Strike, an ability that attacks the enemy with the highest power. This is very interesting because powerful monsters usually hide in the backline. With this ability, they are basically “pulled out of hiding.”

At higher levels it gains Piercing, then Ambush at level 8—which allows it to attack before the first round even begins. At max level it gets Bloodline Pact, an ability that strengthens units with the same bloodline whenever one of them defeats an enemy.

I can already imagine a more aggressive Saurian strategy. Not just fast units anymore, but units that can hunt the most dangerous targets right from the start.

The second card is just as interesting: Ghostly Blacksmith from the Earth element with the Undead bloodline. Its mana cost is only 4, but its utility is quite broad. A magic attack of 3, speed 5, and health 8 at max level make it feel very efficient.

Its starting ability is Incendiary, which applies a Burning effect every round. This Burning can even spread to adjacent units. Then there’s Reveal, which prevents enemies with Camouflage from hiding. After that comes Rust, which reduces the armor of all enemies.

However, the most unique ability in my opinion is Shadow Focus. If placed in the last position, it gains Camouflage but cannot attack, and the entire team receives +1 Power and the Determined ability. At max level, it also gets Flame Fed, which actually restores health when it is affected by Burning.

What makes this feature even more interesting is how you obtain these cards. Both cards can only be crafted using resources from Land.

The costs are quite specific:

  • Thessok Clan Hunter requires 2000 Stone and 187.5 Cinder
  • Ghostly Blacksmith requires 450 Iron and 187.5 Cinder

This means Land players really need to pay attention to their resource production before the snapshot is taken.

The snapshot to determine Allocation Rights will be conducted in the two weeks before the launch. After that, on March 31, a five-day crafting period will begin for players who hold those rights.

Overall, the card supply will also be limited. A total of 63,000 Regular Foil cards will exist, with 60,000 crafted by players and 3,000 stored in the Team Treasure Chest for future events or community rewards.

For me personally, this feature feels like a fairly important evolution. In the past, Land felt like a long-term project whose impact wasn’t fully felt yet. Now, Land production can directly turn into cards that can be used in battle.

The important lesson here is this: in Splinterlands, strategy doesn’t only happen in the battle arena. Sometimes strategy actually begins with managing resources, understanding the economic mechanics, and preparing before a snapshot happens—before others even realize it.

If I may give one simple suggestion:
For those who own Land, start paying attention to Base Production Power (PP) and the resources you generate. Don’t wait until the snapshot passes and then regret it.

Because in Praetoria, big opportunities don’t always arrive with a loud noise. Sometimes they come quietly… and suddenly become the card that determines your victory in the arena.
