It’s Not Just About Climbing Leagues Anymore
![]()
If I used to hear the words Gold or Diamond in Modern Ranked, my understanding was pretty simple: climb the League, and if my rating was high enough, move up again. Now things are a little different. With the introduction of the Brackets System, each Bracket has nine Divisions to work through.
So, after choosing a Bracket, the journey isn't over. In fact, it's only just beginning.
Nine Steps Within One Bracket
Each Bracket has 9 Divisions, all determined by Rating. It starts with Division 9 at a Rating of 0–499, then Division 8 at 500–999, and so on until Division 1 at a Rating of 4,000 or higher.

That means if I'm in the Silver Bracket, for example, my journey is Silver Division 9 → Silver Division 8 → Silver Division 7, and so on until Silver Division 1.
Interestingly, once I reach Silver Division 1, I don't automatically move up to Gold just because my Rating is high enough. I remain in the Silver Bracket for the rest of that season.
For me, this changes the way I look at matches. The goal is no longer simply to “climb the League,” but to keep climbing through the Divisions within the Bracket I've chosen.
Every Division Has a Reward
There's one thing I find quite interesting about this system. Every time I reach a new Division, there's a loot chest reward available. However, that Division reward can only be claimed once until the season ends.

That's when I started thinking: apparently, Rating isn't just a number displayed on the screen. Rating has now become something like a staircase leading to rewards.
But there's one consequence worth paying attention to. When the season ends, the starting position for the next season is determined by the highest Division ever reached, rather than simply our final position. So if I've managed to reach a certain Division, that achievement will affect where my next journey begins.

In other words, once you've climbed high, you don't really return all the way to the ground in the next season.
I'm Starting to See Rating Differently
For me, this change is interesting because it makes the Ranked journey feel more gradual.
For example, players who are still in Gold don't have to think that Diamond is their only goal. There are nine steps that can serve as smaller targets.
Today, Division 7.
Tomorrow, try Division 6.
If I'm lucky and my strategy is clicking, keep going.
If I run into an opponent who makes my own cards feel more like greeting cards, well, take a breath first. And try again tomorrow. 😄
