Fortune Draw, Black Foil Arcane, and the Dreams Still Hidden in Praetoria

Hello, Splinterlands warriors.
There are two kinds of players in this world.
The first type opens a pack and calmly looks at the cards inside. If they’re good, great. If they’re just average, that’s fine too. Life goes on.
The second type imagines all the possibilities before even opening the pack. What if it’s a legendary card? What if it’s a Gold Foil? What if something incredibly rare appears and sends the entire guild into a frenzy?
I have to admit, I often belong to the second group.
And that’s exactly why, when reading the Summer Fun announcement, my attention was drawn to what might be the most dangerous part for a Splinterlands player’s imagination: Fortune Draw Entries and the rare cards that have yet to be discovered.
Because behind all the Summer Fun rewards, there was one sentence that made me pause:
"The Black Foil Arcane Archmage Yabanius has not yet been found."
There is only one.
And until now, it remains hidden. The sentence is simple. But its impact is extraordinary.
The Dream That Keeps People Opening Packs
Since I first started playing Splinterlands, I’ve always felt that opening packs carries a different kind of thrill compared to other games.
Not because of the animation. Not because of the visual effects. But because there is always a small chance that makes your heart race.
The chance that something incredibly rare is waiting inside.
And Summer Fun seems to understand the psychology of players like me.

Each Summer Fun Gift Box provides Fortune Draw Entries.
The higher the tier of the Gift Box, the more entries you receive.
Starting from 20 entries in the $5 Gift Box up to 250 entries in the $100 Gift Box.
At first glance, they may look like just numbers.
But for players who understand the Fortune Draw system, those numbers are tickets to possibility.
And possibility is one of the most valuable currencies in a collectible game.
When the Hunt Becomes a Story
What fascinates me is not just the rewards that are available now.
It’s the rewards that haven’t been found yet.

Imagine there is a single Black Foil Arcane Archmage Yabanius still hidden among thousands of unopened packs.
No one knows who will find it.
Situations like this remind me of old stories about buried treasure on a remote island.
Everyone knows the treasure exists.
But no one knows who will find it first.
And strangely enough, it’s that uncertainty that makes the journey so exciting.
Yabanius Is Not Alone
The more I read the announcement, the more I realized that Yabanius is just the tip of the iceberg.
There are still many rare Arcane cards yet to be discovered.
There are Black Foil Arcane versions of:
- Calamity
- Captain Frankie
- Elowen Sylphie
- Hanv
- Brave the Bull
- Dragonlord Mancer
And many other rare cards.

This means every unopened pack still holds a possibility.
It may be small.
But it’s still there.
And as long as that possibility exists, the hunt will continue.
My Strategy for Summer Fun
If you ask about my personal strategy, I won’t chase everything at once.
I prefer a simple approach.
First, I focus on Gift Boxes that match my account’s needs.
Second, I treat Fortune Draw as a fun bonus, not the main objective.
Third, I will continue opening packs with realistic expectations.
Because the odds of ultra-rare cards are indeed low.
But low doesn’t mean impossible.
And throughout Splinterlands history, there has always been someone who ends up being that lucky player.
Why not us?
A Reflection for New Players
In my opinion, there’s an important lesson here for new players.
One of the reasons rare cards become so valuable is the journey required to obtain them.
The harder they are to find, the greater the story behind them.
And in a collectible game like Splinterlands, the story is often just as valuable as the card itself.
So my advice is simple: enjoy the hunt. Don’t focus too much on the final result. Because often, the most exciting moments aren’t when we find the treasure—but when we’re still searching for it together.
Who knows, the next pack you open might be the one all of Praetoria has been waiting for.
Because in Splinterlands, even the most impossible dreams always have a chance of becoming reality.
And as the community often says:
The Chase is Real. 🔥
