Epic Draw vs Major Chest: Which Was More Profitable This Season?

Hello, Splinterlands warriors.
A new season has finally arrived again. Like farmers who have just finished harvesting, Splinterlands players have a similar moment: counting the results of the previous season. The difference is, while farmers harvest rice, we harvest Glint.
And honestly, seeing the Glint total at the end of a season always brings a small sense of satisfaction. As if every win, loss, and strategic experiment over the past two weeks finally takes on a tangible form.

This season, I’m quite satisfied with the results. From ranked battles and other activities, I managed to collect more than 37,000 Glint from season rewards. On top of that, there was also a small bonus from Survival mode, which was 4 SPS. Not a huge amount, but still enjoyable—and I plan to discuss Survival mode in more detail in a future post.
When combined with my previous savings, my Glint at that time reached around 98,000.
A decent amount to start spending.
With that much Glint, I decided to focus on a single target: Epic Draw.
The reason is simple. Epic cards often sit in an interesting middle ground—not as expensive as legendaries, but frequently powerful enough to significantly influence battles.

So I sacrificed 60,000 Glint to open 4 Epic Draws.
As the cards began to reveal themselves, curiosity naturally kicked in. And the results were quite interesting:
- VOSS (2 copies)
- JORAKI VENSHIRO
- WAILSWORN SPECTER
Seeing VOSS appear twice was actually quite encouraging. It means I’m getting closer to a level upgrade. I only need 1 more copy to raise it to the next level.

Unfortunately, no Epic Gold appeared this time. But that’s the nature of probability—sometimes it gives, sometimes it only gives hope.
After finishing the Epic Draw, I still had a considerable amount of Glint left.
Rather than letting it sit idle, I decided to try my luck with Major Chest.

With 37,500 Glint, I purchased 15 Major Chests.
Honestly, this is where the adrenaline usually starts to rise. Major Chests are like mystery boxes. Sometimes they’re ordinary, and sometimes they deliver big surprises.
As I started opening the chests one by one, the early results were fairly entertaining.
One of the drops was 3 BCX Gravebrabd Warlock.
That amount was enough to upgrade the card to level 2, which of course opens up new strategic possibilities on the battlefield.
But the real surprise came after that.
Suddenly, one of the chests shook.
Moments like this always make players pause for a second. Because it usually signals one thing: a legendary card.

And sure enough.
What appeared was CHUMA MARANDU, a Dragon Legendary card.
I actually sat there for a few seconds staring at it. Because if you think about it, the value of this card is roughly equivalent to about 70,000 Glint in a Legendary Draw. In other words, this single card almost compensated for all the Glint I spent on Major Chests.
Sometimes luck really does arrive in dramatic fashion.
A Pretty Sweet Final Result
From this season’s rewards, I gained several important things:
- Gravebrabd Warlock upgraded to a new level with additional skill
- Extra epic cards for the collection
- And of course CHUMA MARANDU, which immediately strengthened my Dragon lineup
It may not be a perfect outcome, but it is clearly very satisfying.

One of the most interesting aspects of the current reward system in Splinterlands is its flexibility. We can choose between:
- opening chests for big potential rewards
- or buying cards directly through specific draws
Both approaches have their own playstyle.
Personally, a combination of the two feels quite effective. Epic Draw provides collection certainty, while Major Chest offers the chance for surprise moments.
Additionally, the next strategy I plan to run is reactivating the BURN SPS TO GLINT feature. This way, I can accelerate Glint accumulation for the next season.
And one more small plan: in Survival mode, I’ll try moving to a more populated bracket so the battles feel more lively.
Opening Epic Draw builds the foundation of a collection, while Major Chest creates opportunities for unexpected moments—like when CHUMA MARANDU suddenly appeared from a shaking chest.
And in Splinterlands, moments like that are always a reason to keep playing.
That’s all for this season’s small report.
See you in the arena, warriors. ⚔️
