First week of chemotherapy | weekend run

What an intense week that was!

Whereas on Tuesday we did had an appointment planned for installing a PICC-line in my wife’s arm so they would be able to administer the chemo’s easilier and partially from home - we were still left in the dark on when the start of the chemotherapy would be. On the appointment on Tuesday they installed the line and gave us information on what we could expect. Also they (the hospital) gave us a little suitcase with stuffed animals , books and small presents for our girls. With information and support accustomed to their age. Which ment a lot to me!

Monday end of the day we got the call that on Wednesday we could start the chemo. From which 5h (3 different chemo’s) we would need to be in the hospital and we could take the 4th with us back home (attached to the picc-line). The last chemo would take 24h to complete / fully enter the body.

Side effects started after +/- 12h and still seem to be increasing which is quite rough to see. But also within the range of what we expected - no signs that we need to call the hospital. Just rough days!

Last few days I was able to support my wife by taking every chore that she does on me and joining her to all appointments (for which I am gratefull to be able to).

Today has been more difficult (on me) as my kids take their stress out on eachothers while I still had plenty to do - which makes me realize that the bad sleep, worries and stress is catching up on me as my patience was a little lower than normal.

Luckely my oldest daughter still has her traffic exam to prepare for, so despite the rain I asked her to come and practise with me today. This time she had to give directions!

My run went pretty well actually! As last week I felt sudden pain in my left foot - I “rested” (red: no time to go for a run) for a week. My foot held well the first 6km (pain 2 / 10), last 4 km it became a little more noticable (4 / 10). Which is a great sign! As it shows that rest is effective (and it could use a little more rest)

But, it was not just a run - it was mostly my time to catch a breath today and come back home with new energy!

Dear friends, thanks for all the love and support! ❤️
