There's no "Right Time" to Resume Something Neglected
Been away from blogging for over three months, and while the idea of resuming some kind of writing activity has been on my mind repeatedly, I've never managed to find the "right time" to get started again.

At least the lavender AROUND the labyrinth is beautiful!
But when is the right time?
There's an old truism that goes something along the lines of "it's only too late if you don't start now." And perhaps that applies here, as well.
This blog was likely derailed - to some degree - by the fact that we are in the middle of reconditioning our labyrinth, and so there isn't really a labyrinth in our back yard right now... just a sheet of black plastic covering where the Labyrinth used to be.

Definitely not pretty
But that isn't really an excuse, is it?
After all, only a tiny minority of the posts on this blog are actually about labyrinths, while the majority are about nature, spirituality, philosophy and the like.
Along the way, I came up with rationalizations like "I don't actually want to resume this blog because at the moment we're really busy and I won't have time to follow up on it on a regular basis."
But is that really a valid excuse?
It's more like one of those things you tell yourself as a rationalization for why you are not able to overcome the resistance you're feeling to get started on something.

And the resistance doesn't have anything to do with not enjoying writing, or not enjoying keeping a blog and sharing stories and viewpoints and photography. It more has to do with some old ingrown habits that dictate that if you're going to do something don't do it unless you're willing to fully commit to it, and you're willing to do a really good job with what you're doing.
I realize there is a lot of old psychology buried there related to the fact that I just don't belong to the part of the population who are willing to do a 2nd or 3rd rate job just in order to collect a few rewards.
Which brings me to one of the things that often causes me to feel a little unhappy in this world which is that so many people seem to be looking for the shortcut option, and take little to no pride in what they're doing. Sometimes it almost feels like "quality work" and "pride in your efforts" have become an obsolete way of thinking.

We even unearthed some rare pink lavender!
While I'm in no way opposed to the idea of artificial intelligence, I don't care for the way it seems to be mostly used to generate shortcuts and synthetic content that allows people to pretend that they are something more than they actually are.
Our world needs more authenticity, not less!
That's a bit of a philosophical hurdle, I suppose, and perhaps also a significant hurdle and why this blog has been lying dormant for a while.
And it also leaves me with the question of why exactly it is that creators create.

The bees love it!
Do we create expressly for the purpose of having a body of work to show off and a finished product sitting there... or do we create because we feel compelled by the creative process and how we feel about the very involvement in what we're doing, whether that is keeping a blog or building a labyrinth? Or maintaining one is the case may be, for us.
Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you enjoyed the pictures! Stay tuned for more posts about many different topics!
