🎸Three Tune Tuesday Tunes For August 11th! 💿 All Tunes From 1995 & All Tunes From 1995 Soundtracks! Definitely A Nineties Alt Rock Vibe Today! Green Day! Weezer! The Cranberries! & Bonus 1999 Tune! 🎶

Last week I did tunes from 2001 that all were original tunes by well known artists but all songs only released on soundtracks from 2001. I thought I’d continue with that vibe and do the year 1995 this week. I’m officially retired from nineties Friday and will only be posting once a week on Three Tune Tuesdays so thought I’d give the nineties some love today as I likely will often now that my music posts will be once a week.

This week first up I bring you a Green Day tune that I believe was recorded during the 1994 Dookie sessions but it didn’t make the 1994 breakout album. Truthfully I think it’s the best Green Day song point black released in the nineties so no filler here! It appeared in the film Angus & was the main single on the soundtrack.

Band - Green Day
Song - J.A.R
Album - Angus Soundtrack (1995)

Second up below I bring you Weezer and very similar to first tune, the band recorded it for there debut 1994 self titled (Blue Album) but didn’t make the ten track cut. I also will say this would be one of the best songs on that album so no idea why it didn’t make it but it sound a home on the Mallrats soundtrack!

Band - Weezer
Song - Susanne
Album - Mallrats Soundtrack (1995)

Third up I was gonna go with Goldfinger but I’ll move that to Bonus slot so I keep the 1995 vibe going. Third up it’s the Cranberries and an unreleased song from there catalog. I couldn’t confirm which session it was from likely as the others from an album session and just one of the extra songs that didn’t fit. This appeared in the film Empire Records as well as the soundtrack which also was a 1995 release.

Band - The Cranberries
Song - Liar
Album - Empire Records Soundtrack (1995)

Quick edit - I was able to find out Liar was indeed recorded during the first album session as it appeared on w deluxe version as a b side many years later ⬇️

Why such good tracks didn’t make the records the session was for in all today’s tunes cases I have no idea, because adding them on they’d be top half of album easily!

I’m pretty sure it was the same story for the bonus tune but they actually did go into studio to redo it with a different producer who frankly did a much more polished job. The band Goldfinger who appeared on like a dozen nineties soundtrack even though they were never huge huge commercially but for whatever reason they got a lot of covers & couple originals on such as the movie Waterboy & others. Today’s song is from the 1999 released American Pie soundtrack. I must say again it’s a really good song and would be maybe best outta there 1998 full length album. Again unlike the other picks they did redo it and record it over with a bigger producer & post mixing process. Just saying it deserved a music video & a single but it wasn’t. Though I am sure many discovered the band from first hearing it on the 1999 soundtrack.

Band - Goldfinger
Song - Vintage Queen
Album - American Pie Soundtrack (1999)

Thanks for dropping by friends! I hope you enjoyed the tunes! Also a big thanks to @ablaze for hosting TTT all these years now!

As I said above, I will only be posting on Tuesday’s going forward for TTT so I will always put a lot of effort into picking my tunes and having a theme. Heck I probably overthink the theme and needing a link between the tunes but it’s fun for me so I will keep doing it! Cheers! 🎸

Mallrats & Empire Records I remember had eighties movie vibes. I was in college in 1995 and saw both. I never realized that Weezer song playing at end of Mallrats was unreleased from blue album. It is decent and better than a few songs on the album. I hate Green Day for non music purposes though I will agree JAR is good tune. Cranberries is my lady’s favorite but doesn’t seem to fit with rest. Goldfinger song is mixed heavily. They sound like Blink-182 it’s so polished.

Bought you one HSBI per song. Enjoy!
