Four Tune Friday on Nineties Friday! 💿
Producer Spotlight with Tunes all from albums/bands Produced By Steve Kravac 🎸
MxPx! Blink-182! Less Than Jake! & more lesser known nineties skater punk bands & pop punk!

Happy Nineties Friday! Well I’m writing this on Thursday at noon, so I’ll post a few hours early 🎸. I had planned on doing a producer spotlight for September and focus on one producer each week for Three tune Tuesday & do more on nineties Friday. I’m going to keep it going through October and I have 5 more producers lined up for TTT this month. They said today I’m going to focus on a lesser known producer just for nineties Friday this week. Enjoy!

Steve Kravac was a lesser known producer who did in fact work with some decent names and major label albums but never had a platinum record. He produced the first Blink-182 record, the one from 1995 without any radio or MTV play. His biggest artists were MxPx & Less Than Jake, he did two albums for each band and 3 of the 4 were major label projects. Anyway I’m going to pick two tunes from each of these bands and showcase all 4 albums for my picks today. Two bands, 4 albums and 4 tunes! I’ll also pick out some of the lesser known bands he produced and throw ya a few bonus tunes today! Enjoy!

First two picks are from MxPx’s 1996 album & 1998 follow up. The album covers are from the coolest ever to the most boring snd worst! Just a random sidebar about that. The music is still great on the 98 record, just the album cover sucks.

Band - MxPx
Song - Middlename
Album - Life In General (1996)

Band - MxPx
Song - Cold And All Alone
Album - Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo (1998)

Third & fourth picks are from Less Than Jake’s major label album in 1998 & there 2000 independent album. The 2000 album was recorded for Capital records but the band was dropped. The label allowed them to keep the recording as payment to settle their deal. Basically the 1997 ska hits weren’t hot anymore. Ironically the bands 2003 album directly following this was on Warner Bro’s label and they had one more chance at fame. Anyway onto the tunes!

Band - Less Than Jake
Song - History of a Boring Town
Album - Hello Rockview (1998)

Band- Less Than Jake
Song - Gainesville Rock City
Album - Borders & Boundaries (2000)

Here’s a couple bonus tunes from other albums Steve produced. I purposely picked 95, 97 & 99 to fill in the above years so we get a good flow of 1995-2000. Enjoy!

Band - Slick Shoes
Song - Joe's Sick
Album - Rusty (1997)

Band - Showoff
Song - Spill
Album - Showoff (1999)

And lastly it’s Blink-182, from the first album and on a tiny small punk label! The budget was $1100 dollars and I’m not kidding so don’t judge to harshly.

Band - Blink-182
Song - Touchdown Boy
Album - Cheshire Cat (1995)

Thanks for dropping by! After these past two weeks of mostly pop punk or sk8 punk we’ll do something different next week! Deep dive into producer “Snow” who produced Nine Inch Nails & U2 & Smashing Pumpkins in the nineties! Might have to make that a TTT post but we’ll see. Cheers! 🎸🎶💿
