Legendary Band, those Beastie Boys!
Around the year 1999 we used to listen to Brass Monkey on repeat and just now I went to look up what year that actually came out and finally found out that they were talking about a drink. Hahhaha.
"The term Brass Monkey most commonly refers to a popular citrusy cocktail made with rum, vodka, and orange juice, or the hit 1986 hip-hop track by the Beastie Boys. "
Now that’s a band I can get behind.
Even though I sometimes poke at nineties music, Beastie Boys were an exception indeed. Best work was this era.
The Beastie Boys were so awesome, such a shame they no more... But it was understandable the other two retired the band when the third died. Shake You Rump and Sabotage are great tunes, it's been awhile since I listened to them now. Now I know what to put on the background while I'm working today! Awesome tune Gene!
Rite back at ya brother!!!
Yeah agreed! Only three albums between 99-2011, ones a jazz instrumental record (The Mix-Up) in 2007 and the 2004 & 2011 are regular albums. There’s a lot of good stuff but definitely they slowed down. One in particular hasn’t touched music at all. The other dude just came out with a solo single, first music from em since the last Beastie Boys album. I guess when you put out some of the best music ever, chilling and letting it stand alone isn’t a terrible option.
