The Lizard in the Sink
A few moments ago, I found a small lizard stuck in my kitchen sink—typical Florida. Naturally, I tried to help it out, but it kept darting away from me. Eventually, it stopped running and seemed to accept its fate—though not without some resistance.
That got me thinking… Why did it run? Was it simply exhausted? Did the adrenaline wear off? Or was it, in some way, aware of my intentions?
When it finally climbed onto my finger, it stayed still, except for a few cautious movements of its head. Before I set it free, it paused in my open hand, then suddenly took off and scurried away.
It’s small encounters like this that make me reflect on life, animal behavior, and the quiet, curious interactions between humans and the tiny creatures that find their way into our homes.
With that said, now I'm going to go into a deep rabbit hole of learning about lizards (specifically Brown Anoles) and their brains.
