Solving the Housing Crisis in America

The housing crisis in the United States has become a growing concern, but there are real, practical steps we can take to address it. First, the government could issue more development contracts and relax strict zoning laws. These restrictions often prevent the construction of affordable homes, and loosening them would allow builders to create more options for families of all income levels.

Second, it is crucial to prevent large corporations and foreign investors, like BlackRock, from buying up single-family homes. When big companies purchase these properties, they often turn them into expensive rentals, making it harder for everyday Americans to afford homes.

Third, strengthening family ties could also help. Encouraging families to live together—whether by sharing homes or building multiple homes on the same property—could make housing more affordable and create stronger communities.

Finally, immigration policies need to be enforced more strictly. Deporting individuals who are in the country illegally, and removing asylees or residents who commit crimes, would reduce pressure on the housing market and public resources.
