Hello @caspermoeller89, congratulations on your first day at the new job, and I am glad it went pretty well! Almost 10,000 steps on a day of twelve hours away from home is a great result. I am an Actifit user too, so I always enjoy seeing how other people walk through their day. It was also nice to see the bridge that is nearly complete, and the smiley face game on the wall was a fun idea.
The mystery of the unusual creature in the office made me curious, and I hope the good talk afterwards helped. How was your second day, and did the creature show up again?

Quasi 10.000 passi in una giornata di dodici ore fuori casa sono un ottimo risultato. Anch'io uso Actifit, quindi mi piace sempre vedere come gli altri vivono la loro giornata camminando. Mi è piaciuto anche vedere il ponte quasi finito, e il gioco dello smile sul muro era un'idea divertente.
Il mistero della strana creatura in ufficio mi ha incuriosito, e spero che la bella chiacchierata dopo ti abbia aiutato. Com'è andato il secondo giorno, e la creatura si è fatta rivedere?

The amazing creature I mention is the woman I'm... dating, I guess.
She has a very rough time, and because of her past she tends to withdraw herself when things get rough, so I haven't seen her in 3 weeks. It's tough because she think she has to deal with things on her own. I'm just showing her that I'm not leaving and that I'm nothing like anyone she has dated before.
I'm hoping that will show her that she can open up to me, and that nothing she's dealing with will make me go away.

Thank you for answering so openly, @caspermoeller89. I am sorry to hear that she is going through a hard time, and it is kind and patient of you to stay close without pressure. When someone has had difficult experiences, they often need time and space, and the most helpful thing is often what you are already doing: being calm, consistent and present, with small signs like a message to say you are thinking of her, and without asking her to explain or open up before she is ready.
Three weeks can feel long, but trust grows slowly, through simple actions that repeat over time. I hope she will feel safe enough to open up, and I wish you both the best. If it becomes heavy for you too, talking with a friend you trust can help.

Mi dispiace sapere che lei sta passando un momento difficile, ed è gentile e paziente da parte tua restarle vicino senza fare pressione. Quando una persona ha vissuto esperienze difficili, spesso ha bisogno di tempo e di spazio, e la cosa più utile è spesso quella che stai già facendo: essere calmo, costante e presente, con piccoli segnali come un messaggio per dire che le stai pensando, senza chiederle di spiegare o di aprirsi prima che sia pronta.
Tre settimane possono sembrare lunghe, ma la fiducia cresce piano, con azioni semplici che si ripetono nel tempo. Spero che si senta abbastanza al sicuro da aprirsi, e auguro il meglio a entrambi. Se diventa pesante anche per te, parlarne con un amico di cui ti fidi può aiutare.

Yeah, I sort of know her pattern. I'll be staying, I know what both of us want (and need).
It's up to her to fight her urge to run away. And I truly hope she can fight that urge!

When someone has the urge to run away, a door left open matters more than a door held shut. Knowing that you're not going anywhere, and that she can come back whenever she's ready, can be exactly what makes her feel safe enough to stay. 🌱
You can't fight that battle in her place, but you're already giving her the best support possible. Just remember to take care of yourself too, especially now that you're also starting a new job with 12-hour days! 💪

Quando una persona sente l'impulso di scappare, una porta lasciata aperta conta più di una porta tenuta chiusa. Sapere che tu non te ne vai e che lei può tornare quando si sente pronta può essere proprio ciò che la fa sentire abbastanza al sicuro da restare. 🌱
Non puoi combattere quella battaglia al posto suo, ma le stai già dando il miglior sostegno possibile. Ricordati solo di prenderti cura anche di te stesso, soprattutto ora che stai iniziando anche un nuovo lavoro con giornate di 12 ore! 💪

Thank you! I believe in me and her despite everything that's going on.
Eventually she will realise that I am here for the long term. The real, unconditional love. Her system will be able to fight her urge once there is enough proof of me staying and not going anywhere
