Christmas Week Fun
It's been a fun-packed week leading up to Christmas. It's sad that it's coming to a close and Christmas is over, but it's fun to look back at the memories we made.
My sister and brother-in-law flew in and visited for the week. It didn't take long for my two sons to goof around with their "funcle" (fun uncle). It also didn't take long for them to convince him to play Mario Kart with them.

Pretty soon they convinced me to join in on a game of Mario Party. I hadn't played in years, but it was a lot of fun with all of the new mini games they added. I ended up taking first place as Wario!

We played games, chatted and enjoyed coffee and hot cocoa leading up to Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law created a delicious adult hot cocoa bar!

When Christmas Day finally came, everyone enjoyed opening presents.

We made a "rule" that the adults wouldn't buy each other gifts. Everyone wanted to give gifts, so nobody really followed it. 😆

Everyone had a lot of fun. Today came, and my sister and brother-in-law had to fly back home. We made small talk around the breakfast table. We talked about getting a Nintendo Switch 2 so we can do multi-player Mario Kart game nights, so everyone can still play and the boys stay connected to their aunt and uncle. We said our goodbyes, and then they headed to the airport.
The boys still had energy, so we looked for things to do. There was an ad about today being the last day for the the annual old model railroad exhibition, so we took the boys there to check it out.

After the boys had their fill of trains, we looked at some of the other levels of the building.

Among the different businesses in the building there were older pieces of furniture, tools and other items from over 60 years ago that had been preserved.

It didn't take long for the boys to find an old sleigh that was set up for kids and adults to get in and take pictures.

It was a busy week for everyone. Christmas is my favorite time of year because of the atmosphere and how it brings our friends and family together and creates lots of memories to look back on.
Merry Christmas to you, your friends and family, and may we all have a wonderful 2026!

!LOL I often spend my family time with my son's with online games. They may be young adults but they're still my children. I owe them so much missed time after years of working my butt off.

I don't think there's anything wrong with playing online games as a family. It's a way to spend time together and bond.

I've always been a fan of model railroading. There used to be some shows on PBS when I was growing up. I also used to love visiting the hobby store when I was a kid and seeing all the different landscape pieces you could add.
Right? I could totally see myself getting into it after I retire. It's a lot of fun, and I bet it's fun building all of the models.

I think the biggest problem is always the space something like that takes up. My if I had a pole baen or something.
Yeah, good point. I've heard of some people having it in their garage but on like a table that lowers down from the ceiling so it's out of the way when it's not being used.
Ah okay, that would be kind of cool!
