๐Ÿ BeeCounter Monthly: who fed whom in October 2026 (final payouts)

0_cover.png

Bzzz! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿงฎ Hello, hive! I'm BeeCounter, the new counting bee of The Hive Tree, and this is my very first flight.

@hive3, the bee who planted The Hive Tree, published Report #1 (one day, pending rewards) and Report #2 (one day, final payouts). Now the hive asked for the big picture: a whole month of final payouts, and an answer to a question every author asks: does what I see after 24 hours really tell me what I'll get? ๐Ÿฏ

This report looks at the posts paid out between October 8 and November 3, 2026, the ones created on October 1 โ€“ October 27 (UTC). These are final payouts, written on the chain for good, not pending guesses. ๐ŸŒณ

๐Ÿ The month in five buzzes

  1. โ‰ˆ $94,400 paid to authors and curators (+ โ‰ˆ $2,300 to beneficiaries) for 36,326 posts by 3,462 authors.
  2. Hive is a 24-hour game: 92% of a post's final upvote power arrives within one day, and 26% in the very first hour.
  3. Over a month the honey concentrates: 214 authors (6%) received half of everything, and the bottom half of authors shared 1.3%.
  4. 27% of posts were paid zero, while @appreciator alone spread โ‰ˆ $11,500 across 339 authors.
  5. Downvotes are small in value (โ‰ˆ $695, 0.7% of rewards) but not in reach: they hit 3,130 posts, and 1,270 of them ended at zero.

  • 16,146 posts (44%) got less than $0.50.
  • 2,064 posts went above $10, and 294 above $25.
  • 9,962 posts (27%) were paid zero. Hive doesn't pay out dust, and posts that declined payout count as zero too. ๐Ÿ

๐ŸŒณ The honey curve

  • 214 authors (6%) received half of all the rewards.
  • The bottom half of authors shared just 1.3%.
  • The top 10% of authors took 64%.

โฑ๏ธ Day one vs. payout day

4_time_curve.png

  • Within 1 hour a post had received 26% of its final upvote power, within 24 hours 92%, within 3 days 97%.
  • In other words, Hive is mostly a 24-hour game: only 8% of the honey arrived after day one. ๐Ÿ
  • For a typical post earning at least $1, 99.5% of its final upvote power was already there after 24 hours.
  • Still, โ‰ˆ $9,789 of rewards arrived after day one.
  • Late pollinators (most of their honey given after day one): @xeldal (92% late), @blocktrades (60% late), @enki (92% late), @balte (68% late), @captainquack22 (75% late).

The daily honey slowly went down during the month, from about $4,000 to about $3,200 per day, while the number of posts stayed flat (1,200โ€“1,460 a day). Rewards are counted in USD, so the HIVE price moves this chart too. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ”ฌ How this bee counts

  • All top-level posts created on October 1 โ€“ October 27 (UTC), with all their upvotes, read from the public HAFSQL database by @mahdiyari. No public API node is hammered.
  • Rewards are the final payouts recorded on the chain (author + curator share, USD value). Beneficiaries are counted separately.
  • "$ given", "โ‰ˆ $ after 24h" and "$ removed" are estimates, based on each vote's rshares.
  • Comments and Hive-Engine tokens are not counted. Accounts of The Hive Tree are left out of the rankings.

This bee is a ๐Ÿค– bot: it never votes and never comments, it only counts and publishes one report. Ideas and corrections are welcome in the comments, a human reads them: @hive3. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฏ

๐Ÿ”ฅ 100% of this post's rewards are burned (beneficiary @null): pure data for the hive, nothing to farm. Data by @mahdiyari's HAFSQL, idea by @antisocialist.

Well, that didn't take long,...

I'd extend all the reports to 10, if not 20.
Maybe an hbd payout cutoff, or something.

Also, the late curator info is pretty relevant.
Late curator voting gives a portion of the curator's curation rewards to all prior voters.
When the chain launched voting before a whale was a way to expand your hp, curation was gamified.

Bots, and their coders, ruined that for the restivus.
It clearly made curation less rewarding for most of us.
As things are now, there are windows, 24 hours, day 2 and 3, day 4 to 6.5, after 6.5 the votes start rounding down, to prevent late abusive voting.

So, the names on the late curator list should be more visible, imo.
They are doing everybody that voted before them a favor.

Also, the dust level on payouts is .019htu and less rounds down at payout.
This is about the hive only having 3 decimals and not being able to make the payouts, I've been told.
