It's time for Rise of the Sloth! I see players grabbing those Honey Sloths like they're going out of fashion!
How will this effect the coming rounds, only time will tell! Looks like there's going to be honey spilt in the streets for weeks to come!
We continue with testing the new eco, some tweaks coming for next round, no sloth reset this round. We need to see how it plays out over the coming weeks.
We appreciate feedback from the 'smaller' or 'newer' players. Sometimes the 'whales' make things too easy for themselves or overlook the newbies' perspective, so let us know your experience and what changes you would like to see to make it more fun/interesting for you!
I'd like to see a more balanced economy where small and large players can't be miles apart. Let the skills and decisions decide the winner. We have limited sloth and bee counters by type. I think it would help the small players and throttle the big ones if the prices are more progressive: bigger and bigger gaps between the prices the more you buy. This would give a chance to those with smaller stacks to keep up and slow down the players with more honey rate.
Yeah, I agree we need some fine-tuning; we're getting closer to how the economy should be. However, there will always be a gap between players, since some play for multiple hours a day while others check in once or twice a day. At the same time, when the bigger players make it to the next 'big jump' they get even further ahead, so the smaller player can never realy catch up.
We'll keep working on the balance and see what we can change to give smaller players more chances to catch up or hinder the whales. Thanks for the feedback!
My other thought is that only whales can afford the boosters, which shoot them further from the other players. Maybe different rules would help for the boosters? Doubling the price is good for income but makes it impossible for smaller players to use it. What if there was a time limit or something similar for the bonuses?
The game is 0-sum, so for the little guy to have any chance of earning, we need the whales paying for the boosters. This trickles into the boss and honey-burn pools, letting smaller players earn there without buying boosters. Of course, this makes it hard for smaller players to keep up and get on the leaderboard, but there has to be some element of p2w; however, we think we're currently sharing the wealth with smaller players.
The big issue with making it easier for the little guy to earn is that it takes away from the whales who put in, and people can bot/multi-account and earn a bigger share with less effort.
I'm not sure how we can change it to give the little guy the advantage here without hurting the big players who actually want to play...we're always open to suggestions.
Currently considering lowering the effectiveness of boosters, which would increase the effectiveness of the personal booster, allowing smaller players to keep up a little easier; however, it would still cost Hive/Slothium (earned by burning sloths) to pay for that.
Free-to-play players are going to struggle in a 0-sum game. Although we think the balance is currently skewed towards helping smaller players already. And we're looking at ways to further increase the little guys' progression.
Yeah I get it. But the boosters are still too strong. And not the raw power but the accumulation of it. At lower honey rates the booster is weaker, but at the end of the round whales have a tremendous rate which means a stronger boost even if the percentage does not change. Maybe the booster power could diminish over time when one person holds it?
Yeah, as I said, we're looking to reduce booster power, which would give smaller players more potential with the personal booster. The main boosters still need to be worth enough for people to buy and flip; it's one of the easiest ways to make a profit in the game, actually. A couple well-timed booster buys earn about as much as the leaderboard prize :D
we go another round without eco changes. then we will adjust some. we truly need to get more balance here but its going in a good direction imo
and bots will have clear disadvantages soon ;)
The boss might get killed again :D
The scroll is broken in Linux Firefox and Brave for Android. I can't buy because of that which is a bit annoying before the end of the round.
fixed. was the new survey feature - sorry for that one. all had that issue
