Yesterday, I made a comment on Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | If You Could Live Inside One Movie for a Week
It was about choosing a world from a movie. Well of course hearing the word choose coupled with a film led me immediately to think of Ewan McGregor and his awesome Choose monologue as Mark Renton in Trainspotting...
And what a fluffing sound track that was.
So yep you guessed it ....

Trainspotting!!!
What a fluffing film ~ What a fluffing soundtrack
If you ask me which movie world I would step inside for a week, my answer is inextricably tied to my own past.
Being an Edinburgh lad who went to university when the city was known as the heroin capital of Europe, ***Trainspotting ***hits far closer to home than a mere piece of 90s cinema. I shared a flat with folk trapped in that cycle.
It was a fluffing unforgettable experience. I mean I was a fluffinf hardened drinker but watching them down neat vodka for breakfast after shooting up at the kitchen table was a sobering everyday reality.
Irvine Welsh captured that raw, dark underbelly of my home town Auld Reekie, and Danny Boyle set it to one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever pressed to vinyl.
So, instead of choosing "a big television, washing machines, and matching luggage," let's dive into three absolute bangers from the iconic Trainspotting soundtrack.
Here are three amazing tunes from Trainspotting.
Tune 1 - Iggy Pop – Lust for Life
From the second that frantic drumbeat kicks in and Renton starts sprinting down Princes Street (which ironically is closed thanks to yet another fucking fire in a dodgy vape shop) pursued by security guards, Lust for Life grabs you by the throat.
Co-written with the amazing David Bowie, Lust for Life was already a proto-punk classic, but Boyle’s opening sequence redefined it for an entire generation.
It is pure adrenaline pure manic energy.
It is also one of my favourite songs and always gets me energised!
Tune 2 - Lou Reed – Perfect Day
I have never done a ttt for Iggy Pop and now that I come to think about it, I have never done one for Lou Reed who has some songs which are in my personal top fifty and even one in Caroline Says my top ten!
Perfect Day is a fluffing masterpiece of bittersweet melancholy.
In the film, it is one of the darkest, most surreal moments. Renton overdoses and sinks through the carpet, seen from a first-person perspective as he is dragged into a taxi and rushed to the hospital.
Lou Reed’s lush piano chords and orchestral arrangements turn a harrowing brush with death into something hauntingly poignant. Read the YouTube comments in this version and you will be amazed what the song means to people!
Tune 3 - Underworld – Born Slippy
We finish up today's ttt by jumping forward to the end scene of the film.
The song that helped defined late-90s UK club culture and of course became a massive hit.
Renton makes off into the London dawn with the holdall full of cash and the beat and chanting ..."lager, lager, lager...").
Yeah what a fluffing film, what a fluffing soundtrack...
So there you have it, 3 songs released from the Trainspotting film soundtrack which brought back some amazing memories!!

I've never seen the movie. I think it would be too depressing for me. If I had to pick a movie to live in for a week, it would probably be Empire Records or Dazed and Confused.
It was a brilliant film for me, just like Pulp Fiction. I didn't find either too depressing. Now the films you mention, Empire Records and Dazed and Confused I have never heard of! It is great that we can all like different things.

Hehe you know it was Vodka funnily enough, as a Scottish film you might have thought it would be whisky. Fun fact about whisky, do you know why some countries spell it whiskey? That is the ones with an e in their name like Ireland and America. but the cool kids who invented whisky are Scotland with no e in their name and also Japan with no e have their whisky too.

Man the amount of people who started bands because of the 1970-1978 music that came outta NYC is unmatched! Seated in the nineties, LA eighties, doesn’t touch it.
