The Brawl That Tested My Strategy More Than My Cards

Hello, fellow Splinterlands warriors!

Before I knew it, we had already reached the end of July. As usual, another Brawl season has come to an end, and I'd like to share my latest experience fighting alongside Guild ClaNFT. Despite all the new features constantly arriving in Splinterlands, Brawl remains one of the game modes I look forward to the most. It's not just about the rewards—every Brawl tells a different story.

As usual, I was assigned to Fray 12. Interestingly, this fray turned out to be surprisingly quiet. Several opposing guilds didn't fill their battle slots, which meant I was awarded five automatic victories.

At first, I thought this week's Brawl would be an easy one.

But things didn't turn out quite that way.

Out of my nine battle slots, my final record was:

• 6 wins
• 3 losses

Looking closer, however, I actually earned only one victory through an actual battle. The other five wins came from unfilled slots on the opposing guilds' side.

The three losses were rather frustrating. Two of them were entirely my fault—I misread my opponents' lineups and made poor formation choices. The third loss, however, had nothing to do with strategy. Just as I was about to enter the battle, my internet connection suddenly dropped, and the match was recorded as a Fled by the system.

It was definitely frustrating because that kind of defeat could have been avoided if my connection had been stable.

Even so, I still managed to contribute 18 points to Guild ClaNFT.

Thankfully, the combined efforts of all our guild members paid off once again.

Our Brawl rewards included:

• 48 Crowns
• 2,400 Merits for every member who fully participated
• 30.236 SPS distributed as staked SPS for players with a Spellbook

Personally, I always enjoy receiving extra SPS. It may not seem like much at first glance, but when you accumulate it consistently after every Brawl, it gradually becomes a valuable asset.

That's how I view rewards in Splinterlands—small gains, collected consistently, eventually grow into something significant.

My Most Memorable Battle

Even though I only managed to secure one genuine victory this time, that battle turned out to be the most exciting one to talk about.

The battle featured a 13 Mana Cap with the Heavy Metal and Eggceleration rulesets.

With such limited mana, every monster selection mattered. There was no room for unnecessary support cards—every choice had to provide maximum value.

I decided to build my strategy around Helmet Kharafax, making it one of the key pieces of my lineup. To maximize its potential, I positioned it next to Moxian Rebel, which possesses the Weapon Training ability.

Thanks to Weapon Training, Helmet Kharafax gained an additional attack and was able to apply pressure right from the opening rounds. In a battle with such a low mana cap, even one extra point of damage can completely change the outcome.

Saving Merits for Gladius Packs

Another thing that made me happy was seeing my Merit savings continue to grow.

After receiving this week's Brawl rewards, my total reached 14,567 Merits.

That means I'm getting much closer to my goal of 20,000 Merits. If everything goes according to plan, it should only take a few more Brawls before I can finally open 10 Gladius Packs all at once.

I can't wait to see whether luck will be on my side once again.

Final Thoughts

This late July Brawl certainly wasn't my strongest individual performance. Winning only one battle on my own isn't exactly a result I'm completely satisfied with. Still, I'm grateful that I was able to contribute to Guild ClaNFT's success while earning more Merits and SPS along the way.

Every Brawl teaches me something new. This week reminded me to be more careful when planning my strategy and to make sure my internet connection is stable before the battles begin. Two simple lessons—but they can make all the difference.
