ClaNFT Climbs to the Top, While Fray 12 Is Surprisingly Empty

avatar

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

Welcome back to another one of my Brawl reports with Guild ClaNFT. I’ve got some exciting news this time. Not only did my personal battles go pretty well, but after all the results were tallied, ClaNFT managed to take first place in the Brawl!

Now, that feels pretty good.

For those who are new to Splinterlands, Brawl is a guild-versus-guild battle mode. Each member is assigned to a specific Fray, and the results of each player's battles are combined to generate points for the guild. So, my victories aren't just about my personal statistics. Every little contribution can help determine whether the guild moves up or down the leaderboard.

And this time, that little contribution helped bring ClaNFT all the way to the top.

Fray 12 Again, Fray 12 Again

Just like before, I was once again assigned to Fray 12.

I’m starting to wonder if Fray 12 has somehow been destined to become my permanent address in Brawl.

But there was something different this time.

Fray 12 was pretty quiet.

Out of all the available slots, there were only two actual battles that I had to play. The rest were empty because the opposing guild didn’t fill their slots. As a result, I received five automatic victories.

If you only look at the number of wins, it certainly looks fantastic.

Five victories without having to pick a single monster.

No need to think about mana caps. No need to study the ruleset. No need to guess whether the opponent would bring magic, melee, or ranged attacks.

Just enter the battle and see the result:

Win.

Sometimes Splinterlands has its own way of making players feel like they’re really good at the game.

Of course, I don't want to take too much credit for those automatic victories. I was more interested in the two battles that I actually had to play.

And from those battles, I managed to secure victories that brought my total contribution to 18 points.

Not a huge number, admittedly.

But what matters is that there was a real contribution from the battles I actually played.

The part that made me happiest came after all the battles were over.

When the final results appeared, it turned out that ClaNFT had collected 94 victories.

And that result pushed our guild into first place.

I think this Brawl was relatively quiet. A lot of slots from opposing guilds were left unfilled. But regardless, an opportunity is still an opportunity. If the opponent doesn’t show up, we shouldn’t fall asleep either.

In the end, the rewards were pretty decent too:

  • 47 Crowns
  • 2,350 Merits for every member who fully participated
  • 46.07 staked SPS for players who own a Spellbook

The SPS reward this time even made me a little more motivated to increase the amount of SPS I have staked.

Little by little.

There’s no need to rush.

Because in a game like this, I prefer collecting small results consistently rather than hoping for one huge payoff.

A Battle That Taught Me Something

Of the battles I actually played, there was one that I thought was particularly interesting to talk about.

The rulesets were:

Born Again, Counterspell, and Maneuvers.

Three rules that, even at first glance, are enough to get your brain working.

Born Again allows monsters to return to life once. Counterspell gives all units Magic Reflect. Meanwhile, Maneuvers grants the Reach ability, allowing melee monsters to attack from the second position.

So if I chose the wrong lineup, the battle could easily turn into a painful learning experience.

I decided to use a strategy built around three monsters with the Opportunity ability.

The goal was clear: take advantage of opportunities to attack more vulnerable enemy units while maximizing pressure from multiple directions.

But there was one part of my lineup that I felt was the real key.

Weapon Training and Noa the Just

I included a monster with Weapon Training and positioned it close to Noa the Just.

That was where I felt the strategy really started to come together.

Noa the Just has an ability that makes the enemy's armor easier to penetrate, while the Weapon Training effect allows nearby monsters to gain an attack from the right partner.

My Opponent Brought Franz Ruffmane

My opponent certainly didn’t come empty-handed either.

They used Franz Ruffmane, an Archon who provides an armor bonus. Franz Ruffmane also has the Conscript ability, which can allow an additional Gladiator under certain conditions, along with its +1 Armor bonus.

So I was facing a formation that wasn’t easy to break through.

Especially with the additional armor on the opposing side.

But that was exactly where the Weapon Training and Noa the Just strategy became important. I was able to take advantage of positioning while reducing the opponent’s armor.

And the final result?

I won.

What made me happy wasn’t just seeing the word Victory appear on the screen.

I was actually happier because the strategy I had planned before the battle genuinely worked.

That feels different.

An automatic victory gives you points.

But a victory earned through strategy gives you satisfaction.

Closing: Hopefully This Won’t Be Our Only Time at the Top

And that’s the story of my Brawl this time around.

There were automatic victories, battles that genuinely tested my strategy, bonus SPS to stake, Merits to save, and, most importantly:

ClaNFT finished in first place.

I hope we can keep results like this going. But I also know the next Brawl might not be this easy. Opposing guilds could fill every slot again. Other players could show up with new lineups. The meta could change. And a strategy that works today could become the road to defeat tomorrow.

So I don’t want to spend too long enjoying the victory.

Better to enjoy it for a moment, then get back to learning.

Because sometimes the best card isn’t the most expensive card.

What matters more is knowing when and how to use it.

And for ClaNFT, I hope that in the next Brawl, we’ll still see this guild’s name sitting at the very top.

If possible, let’s not just visit the summit.

Let’s put a chair up there and stay awhile. 😄

See you in the next Brawl report, fellow Splinterlands warriors!
