Introvert Talks - We Are All Human, Not Robots

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)

This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.

Sometimes we just got to accept the fact that we are still humans, and can never become robots.

In this age where everyone is fascinated about the possibilities that AI can bring, I feel that we sometimes neglect the fact that we will forever be humans, and can never become robots.

We as humans celebrate festivals. Robots don't.

February was kind of a whirlwind for me. First was the Chinese New Year celebrations. In Chinese communities, this was one of the major events on the calendar and we have all the celebrations, gatherings, good food, basically all the festivities. There's this aspect of human touch, the smiles, the warmth between human beings, that robots cannot replace. As AI gradually becomes a major part of our lives, I do hope we as humans continue to keep our culture and festivals alive because these occasions can bring so much cheer and happiness to many of us.

We as humans fall sick. Robots don't. Unless they breakdown.

I also took a short break about the Chinese New Year holidays, but I fell sick shortly. It was a little untimely, because my emails were stacking up after the holidays and break already, and I ended up having to see the doctor, take my medications and rest at home. Nothing serious, just a viral cold (diagnosed by the doctor), but at my age, it took me out for a couple of days. And since the medicine made my drowsy, I was trying to keep myself awake half the time during the time. And it made me realise that if the company had AI or robots, they probably would not suffer any impact from employees falling sick. Of course, one could argue that robots do breakdown as well, but I think in terms of "uptime", human beings will never be able to surpass robots.

So what's my reflection? Hmm my takeaway is humans will never be able to win AI and robots on the things that they can do. So our value add as humans has to be things that AI and robots can't do, yet.

Since it's nearing the month end, here's a quick update of my "likely to fail" goal. Hehe.

So a few months ago, I wrote about my annual health checkup and I received a wake up call about my health. You can read about it here.

Well, there was no health scare or whatsoever, but all the indicators seemed to got slightly worse with age, especially the past year, and so I decided to set a goal of losing 5 kg in the coming 6 months (until end Mar 2026).

And this month's reading came in at a 65.7 kg.

MonthWeightChange (Vs Start)
Start66.4 kg
Month 1 (end Oct 2025)66.3 kg-0.1 kg
Month 2 (end Nov 2025)64.9 kg-1.5 kg
Month 3 (end Dec 2025)65.7 kg-0.7 kg
Month 4 (end Jan 2026)65.7 kg-0.7 kg
Month 5 (end Feb 2026)65.7 kg-0.7 kg
Month 6 (end Mar 2026)
Target61.4 kg-5.0 kg

Pretty surprised that my weight didn't increase. As mentioned, February was a whirlwind, I had lots of food during the celebrations, but I also fell sick and didn't have much appetite for a couple of days, so both events probably cancelled each other out. Haha.

So that's all I have! Ending off with a pagoda-looking dessert which I recently had at a Chinese restaurant. Taste aside, I thought the aesthetics deserved a thumbs up.
