Introvert Talks - Small Changes, Big Results

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)

This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.

Results feel different when you know you earned them.

So one month ago, I wrote about my annual health checkup and I received a wake up call about my health. You can read about it here.

Well, there was no health scare or whatsoever, but all the indicators seemed to got slightly worse with age, especially the past year, and so I decided to set a goal of losing 5 kg in the coming 6 months (until end Mar 2026).

And here's my weight check after 2 months - 64.90 kg!

Last month, I wrote that I needed to be more serious and put in more effort for my weight loss goal. And I am so happy that I made a good amount of progress this month! I managed to shave 1.4 kg off my weight, and all of a sudden, I am back on track and my goal looks possible once again.

The result was not by any chance at all - it took a lot of small changes and they added up.

Exercise was definitely one of the biggest reasons. I happened to have spare time on my hands this month, and I allocated all of them to exercise. I also swam for the first time in over a year, and I did 30 x 25m laps. Hopefully I will continue to keep up with this momentum in December

Diet was in my view a secondary factor. I didn't scale back too much on the calories, but whenever I could make small changes and have a smaller portion, I would opt for it. The key idea was to make these changes somewhat negligible, and over the long term, the little changes add up.

Interestingly, I also improved on time management this month, and slept a lot more this month. I often survived on 6 hours (or at most 7 hours) of sleep per day, and had to rely on caffeine to sustain my energy levels, but this month, I was able to clock 7 to 8 hours of sleep per day, and it definitely felt different. I mean, logically, it should right? Haha. Not sure if sleep has any correlation with weight, but I think my overall well being had a boost for sure.

4 months to go, and I still need to find 3.5 kg more to shave, it's going to be difficult for sure, but I am going to try my best to put in the hard work and see how it goes. This month's weight definitely was a morale booster and I could relate to what people say - results feel different when you know you earned them.

With that, that's all I have for this week for my self talk post! Ending the post with a photo of the gym that I was at this week - it was quite out of the way and somehow I just had the gym all to myself. Lol!
