Australia - Exploring The Sydney Beaches
Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US, Europe and the latest one being New Zealand, it's time to fly over to Australia!
Australia is a country that I have been to twice in my life. The first time was to Sydney in 2009, and the second time was to Melbourne in 2011. And I realised that's 14 years since I was last there! Anyway, time to relive those moments as I share the sights and sounds of my experience!
Here are the posts so far:
Australia - The Amazing Views At Sydney Harbour Bridge
Australia - Admiring The Sydney Opera House
After our visits to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, we turned to the nature and something more scenic for this post, and we are going to explore the Sydney beaches! As far as I can recall, the most popular beach is Bondi Beach. Maybe it's because the most convenient from the city centre. Another one which I shortlisted was Manly Beach, which would require a ferry ride from the quay. So let's head to the two beaches!
This is the popular Bondi Beach! As you can see, it was summer and the beach was packed with beach go-ers, enjoying the day out, and getting some sun. While we didn't have the luxury of time to be out at the beach suntanning, we had a casual stroll along the path adjacent to the beach and soak in the vibes and scenery. There's something so therapeutic about seeing blue skies and blue waters, meeting at the horizon, and then the seemingly endless stretch of sand.
We also saw police patrolling on horses, which was something interesting because it's not something we see over in our country here. Haha.
Zooming in a little, and there's actually a lot of people in the waters enjoying themselves!
And so that's it for our visit to the popular Bondi Beach! Next, on a separate day, we took a ferry to head to Manly Beach! The good part about the ferry ride was that we could also admire the city views during the journey as well. So here's some photos of the Sydney city centre!
As we headed further out into the waters, the buildings became smaller and the blue waters and blue skies dominated the views. Beautiful in their own way as well!
And finally we reached Manly Wharf! We alighted the ferry and made our way to Manly Beach!
Similar to Bondi Beach, Manly Beach was equally crowded! Or maybe even more crowded! The waves seemed stronger here and perhaps that's why there were so many people enjoying themselves in the waters.
The beach was so packed! I guess unlike over here where it's summer all year round, the summer season is the prime time to head out to the beach and engage in all the water activities.
They had drinking stations which provided drinking water as well.
We had some free time on our hands, so we ordered fish and chips via takeaway and I remembered sitting by the beach, enjoying my food and the beach scenery at the same time.
So that summed up my visits to the two popular beaches in Sydney, Bondi Beach and Manly Beach. It's hard to pick a favourite, because while Bondi Beach is better in terms of convenience and proximity to the city centre, I feel that Manly Beach felt more chill and I personally had a better experience there. So which one do you prefer?
And that's all I have today! Have you been to Sydney or Australia? Let me know in the comments below!
