Street Feeders!

In this week's Qurator's photo quest, we're share photos of farm animals.

While heading out this morning, I spotted this cute family of four, having breakfast in the street. Apparently, they were attracted by the scent of the freshly-cut grass, and couldn't wait to chow down as much as they can. Even goats know that fresh leaves taste better. Lol.

Lovely family - he-goat, she-goat and two kids.

Nature provided a great meal for these goats - fresh grasses plus rain water. Ain't they lucky? Hehehe.

Free range system of raising goats is a popular practice in this community where I reside. You'd find out that your neighbor next compound has goats. Occasionally, he lets them fend for themselves on cleared grasses, fallow lands and bushes, especially when he can't go out daily to cut grasses. That's low cost, less stress, and the result - healthier and tastier goats. Lol.

The last part got you, right? Here's the thing:
Meat and milk from free-range goats taste more natural because diet is varied. As they move around, they tend to feed on varieties of grasses, shrubs and leaves, including natural herbs and medicinal plants. All these help them grow stronger, healthier, and their meat, tastier.

That's why most people here prefer raising goats semi-intensive way - range in the day and pen in the night.

And that's a wrap.
